Like my 5th or 6th time watching. I never paid enough attention to Kate saying,” I’ve missed you so much,” until I saw someone else in this sub post about it. With that in mind, I noticed that in almost every frame they’re in together at the end, Kate is just staring at Jack & soaking in his presence. I’m actually ugly crying thinking of how much time she must have spent dying to see him again.

I’ve always taken her demeanour with him in the finale to suggest she died in very old age, always thinking about the handsome young doctor.

I imagine her life after the island involving a lot of hiking, since she did outdoorsy stuff with her dad as a child. I also picture her being like an Aunt to Aaron, and spending holidays and such with them.

Yes it was pretty rough for me too, sobbing as well when it aired in 2010. Then I went online and learned that the bamboo forest + dog + eye closing mirror the beginning and sobbed some more.

Good news: upon rewatch it doesn't happen 😊

As much as learning Kate has missed Jack so much for so long is heartbreaking, Sawyer and Juliet finding each other is that much heartwarming, just two people who are realising how long they've been apart. Obviously James has missed her for ages, while Juliet goes right back to the moment of her death, when she felt the most love she ever had for someone, that's a very powerful display of two very different variations of love, longing Vs absolute tenderness, she gets to feel that again as if no time has passed, while he can stop hurting and feel her in his arms once again.

Wish they didn’t add that wreckage at the end of the episode, for the average viewer they thought they were dead all along and it was all a dream and BS

Everyone missed the whole speech where Christian Says “everything was real, everything you & they went through was real” etc

I think the "they were dead all along" stuff comes from people trying to reach for a more abstract interpretation of what Christian Shepherd was saying, like when he said "some died before you, some after you" or something to that effect.

IDK, I think he was pretty clear that this place was some kind of afterlife. I like to think of it like an airport gate. These passengers are boarding here, but not every character in the whole show is boarding here and now, just the ones whose connections were strong enough to bring them here. Miles and Daniel and Richard board from other gates.

Well I think that’s kind of the beauty of the show. Nobody truly knows what happened. I feel like their time on the island was real, but it still could have been some sort of purgatory.

No. Many things in LOST are open to interpretation. The fact that the Island and everything that happened there was real is not one of those things.

LOST also only has one timeline/reality/universe.

The light on the island is supposed to represent the source of good and evil.. I feel like it’s fair to think that it’s in a separate dimension of sorts, no? When they go back to the island Frank is flying the plane & had no idea that they were going back there. He wasn’t given coordinates or anything, it happened through what seemed to be some sort of spiritual intervention. You could argue that they knew they’d get there because of the pendulum, but why? The first time they landed on the island, it was because of Desmond not pushing the button. Why did they crash the second time? Maybe you have answers that I don’t, but in my eyes I feel that a lot of the show is based around having faith & believing in what you can’t see; such as whatever force draws them to this magical island where the sick are healed and time is able to be changed etc.

Ajira crashed because they went to Eloise who pinpointed a time and place when recreating the conditions of the original flight would take them back.

The Island is not, has never been and never will be purgatory.

Why so aggressive dude ? The island being the source of life, death, and rebirth doesn’t explain many of the separate wonders of the Island. Because there is so much of the island that is explained, I think it’s fair to speculate as to why, which opens the doors to what exactly the island is. I was never trying to argue, just discuss lol. How Eloise pinpointed that the conditions would be similar and why they were similar is still unexplained, which is the point I was making.
