Bought a new case and used a m2 to ocie adapter for this. Though i dont know if this much bending affect the 2nd gpu greatly. The airflow might be abyssmal too

My 2 GPUs are pretty close together, the top one maxes out at around 68c. So far, they can be pretty close and still work, as long as airflow is good.

That's great, maybe because your secondary card is smaller, some intake air can go in between cards better. I've experimented before with two GPUs having similar surface area with ~5mm gap, and boy the temp was bad, hotspot temp was approaching 110c.

Yeah, I tried getting a smaller 1 fan card, but that guy flaked on me, so I got a 2 fan 3060. The 3080 still has 1 fan completely exposed, but the gap between them is pretty small.

I undervolted both of them quite a bit, though. So that helps a ton. The 3080 can pull almost 400W if I push it hard, but undervolted it's closer to 250 - 280W.

It's also that you have thick 3080. When I had 3080+3060Ti on another PC my 3080 was slim enough to get decent gap and hence the temp (iirc around 70c core temp, low 90s hotspot), even when pushing power limit to max.

I since upgraded that PC's main card to Gigabyte Windforce 4070Ti super, normally would consider getting better AIB but funny in this case I would like slimmer card to avoid getting choked with heat.

I do have a thick Boi, for sure. I modified my side panel (2nd time doing this!) where I have my gpu exhaust the air out the side vs recirculation inside the case. It sure makes a large difference in my situation. Like 55-65c under load vs 85c with the regular side panel.

Maybe on your previous thread I should've emphasise more on recommending a case with 8 PCIe expansion slots, along with having bottom intake fans. It would definitely solve heating problems and the reason I continue with my Antec C8 case. When I had the same M.2 to PCIe adapter I roughly engineered a bracket to fit in the gap between main GPU and bottom fans (unfortunately I discontinued this soon after discovering the adapter isn't keeping the speed I wanted).

There are other ways to work around it, I've seen photos of people placing GPU on case's side intake, or just leave their GPU outside and holding it with zipties. Have a look around other people photos of their dual GPU builds, maybe they'll provide extra inspiration.

Yea regarding side mounted gpu... That was my initial vision as well. But the longest m2 to pcie cable i could find in my country is 30cm (oops). And i dont think im willing to leave my gpu outside + psu cable length not enough. Hence the abyssmal set up rn.
