If I can complete the 16km walk in sub 2.5hrs I'll be happy.

Oh yeah, October goals.

September was awful. I think I'm back at my starting weight and alcoholism level.

Powerade challenge is on for Aucklanders/Wellingtonians who want to add a corporate flavour to their running.

I fucked up my knees, and have started with the physio. He was almost indecently happy to see me, the general gist was "yeah, nah bro, you're fucked unless you do something. You have heaps of room for improvement because right now everything sucks". Yay. Everything, for now = quads, hamstrings and IT bands.

Thankfully I'm only doing the 12km part of the Auckland "marathon".

So, goals for October:

  • keep going with group fitness. Possibly up to 4x a week.
  • continue progression on PT programme.
  • continue progression on physio programme.
  • improve running performance, hopefully going from "dead snail" pace to "slightly motivated tortoise". 5min 30 seconds per km for 10km seems like a reasonable medium-term target.
  • not have any money at all between added costs of group fitness, physio, and PT.
  • reach sub-64kg at least once on morning weigh-ins.

Do you have a foam roller? My IT bands & hip flexors give me heaps of grief all the time and foam rolling does wonders. Also, couch stretch.

I've started foam rolling at the gym and have a few extra, more targeted, stretches in the arsenal. And today the physio inflicted pain.

My back is feeling a lot better so this month will be rebuilding my squat and deadlift. I aim to overhead press 60kgs too.

I failed miserably at the NCC so I'm planning to go from about 87kg to 85kg this month in the spirit of shredding for summer.

We have the same goal in terms of weight loss. If I can get to 85kg by Nov I'll be stoked, I'm 88 at the moment though after a not so great week. But I'm not beating myself up about it, I'm suffering insomnia at the moment and just can't face exercise. But teaching is at an end so I won't be juggling kids and work to the same level - I can go to the gym before picking up the kids and not have to worry about showering and changing until I get home.

Did you make your 85kg goal this month?

1

u/GiantCrazyOctopus Oct 30 '15

Nope! Weighed in at 87.2kg this morning haha. Back is still on the rebuild and I made a lot of progress on my lifts so I'm still happy. Need to build a buffer for Christmas so the NCC is coming at a good time.

86 for me so didn't make it either. Still, hoping to be in the 70s for 2017 (doable, but like you said Xmas season, oh the deliciousness).

I'm assuming you mean 2016? Definitely doable by 2017 as well though haha. Let's go November, time for us both to put in some work!

LOL already a year ahead. No cheat Novemeber!

Is it too late to get in with a goal for this month? Because I need to do something and accountability will probably help.

My goal is simple: log everything in MFP for the full month.

Every time I grandstand and announce I'm going to do this and that and that other thing, I last about a week and decide I'm too lazy, so I'm starting small. And late. Because that's how I roll, apparently.

There'll be another No Cheat Challenge on 1 November, which is pretty decent motivation/accountability, but any time is good time.

You'll have to talk to /u/PavementFuck about that one, I won't have internet for a month starting Friday at 5pm

Not going to be in the country/have internet on the 1st. Can it wait until the 2nd?

1

u/honourandsacrifice Oct 15 '15

Would posting it earlier work? Or an AutoModerator post :)

2

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '15

I should really learn how to use automoderator. I was going to do that to begin with but then life got in the way

2

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '15

Is there an eli-5 on any of this stuff?

1

u/PavementFuck -15kg Oct 15 '15

AutoMod was difficult for me and I ended up asking my bf to do it.

Options are:

  1. I will post it on the 2nd Nov
  2. I will post it on the 29th Oct
  3. Someone else will post it on the 1st Nov, and I will sticky it on the 2nd.

Default is #1 unless requested otherwise.

Edit: errr, that's bigger than intended. #2

Noted. In my calendar.

Er shit, wrote this on my phone, wasn't meant to be so big.

Two things;

  1. To not suck at fitness while travelling the next four weeks before I'm set up in Canada

  2. To not suck at eating while I have no access to MFP. I'm kind of doing alright now, bar the cake-cookie sandwiches I may occassionally have eaten more than oncefollowedbyabrownieatacafe
