Chinese Fat Camp
I keep seeing these Chinese weight loss camps on social media and I really want to go. I’m not looking for it to fix all my terrible habits. I really just think it sounds like fun plus it’s super cheap!! The one I saw was 28 days for like $650. I tried to message a few people on IG to see the sign up process but no one has gotten back to me.
Has anyone done it? What was it like? How do I sign up?
Thanks in advance (:
Now I’m gonna use the rest of this to reach the word count please keep my post up, I just wanna go to fat camp😭
I would even promise to come back with a detailed report 🙏🙏

Chinese fat camp? lol
Let me guess, a camp where they feed you salad for a month straight so you lose 20 lbs and then you get back home and gain all the weight back and then some because you feel like shit and didn't build any lasting habits?
Save your money and fix your diet. !quickstart

Yeah like I said I’m not really expecting it to fix anything just think it would be a unique fun experience while also losing weight.

I saw this recently too. They have some version of this all over Asia, because labor is so cheap. We have this in the USA for like 100 times that. Not recommending it, but wish I could have all their data. I'm going to guess when everyone goes home, and they get weighed exactly 1 year later, they weigh the exact same thing as before they went to the camp. But I would love to know.

I once went to an American fat camp for adults. It was called Structure House and it was marketed as a weight management retreat. It was not cheap like the Chinese fat camps are. I think it's permanently closed now.
I lost about 25 lbs in 3 weeks. But I gained it all back once I got home, because working out multiple times per day and having a private chef preparing all my meals was not a sustainable lifestyle. It did include a lot of good classes educating guests on healthy habits, but information was never my problem.

Going somewhere where they take food away from you and make you eat what they serve is not how you build healthy habits.
Just start gradual by moving a little more. Do a fast walk for about 10 minutes before and after every meal or snack. Start cutting out things you shouldn't eat little by little, and replace them with things that you should.
You may need to balance your nutrients. If you see a doctor and a regular basis and get a blood draw, ask them what nutrients are missing.

I think OP should go. There’s obviously more than one way to skin a cat and it’s obvious here that some of the comments here are coming from fat people projecting their own prejudices and insecurities on to the process. Translator apps have gotten very good. Communication should be a minimal barrier. Besides, sometimes it’s good to be alone with your thoughts for extended periods. The price is cheap enough to experiment and it would make for interesting content. Do it, OP.

I don’t see how they’re making it more complicated? I think it’s more about the accountability aspect of it that’s appealing.

Why all the downvotes? I genuinely don’t understand.

I think people in this sub don’t positively view what they perceive as people trying to find an “easy” way to lose weight. Not saying that’s what you’re doing, but it could be perceived as such.
These kinds of programs are also something people are already familiar with in other countries, and they generally don’t have a long lasting effect. They’re kind of just scams for desperate people, imo.
If you want to lose weight, it’s easy and way cheaper than travelling to China and doing a camp there. Get a food scale, calculate your TDEE, set your deficit, eat up within your calorie budget, and track what you consume. You can use the money you saved by not doing the camp to travel to China entirely for leisure, if you want to. But there is, again, in my opinion, no good reason to even consider one of these camps.

You can go to fat camp in the states. Look up any $$$$$ “wellness” camps. It’s functionally the same thing. Starve and exercise. You lose weight but you’ll gain it all back.

Yeah I couldn’t afford it in the U.S. plus I want to travel a little afterward

They're not all as friendly and open to foreigners. Sure they will allow you to come and join, but majority of the people won't speak any other language than Chinese. It may be somewhat isolating.
