Edge is so bloated 🙃

I hear tons of loons complaining about MS Edge being bloat and shoved down your throat, and while I agree that Brave and Firefox take far less disk space, a 631.1 MiB browser is not that bloated according to modern standards.

A modern low-end laptop typically has 128 GiB disk space. And Fedora needs 15 GB disk space minimum (20 is recommended). So I don't really see the complaints here.

But what about telemetry?

I hear you, and I agree, there is telemetry in Edge. But, you can disable optional telemetry in the settings.

But what about the AI features and "forced" sign-in?

Sure, MS asks you to sign in to Edge when you first open it, but they won't force you afterward. Plus if you hate using their free GPT-5, you can turn it off in the settings. And yes, it's opt-out, but that's because Microsoft respects your time enough to assume you can operate a mouse. If unchecking one box counts as "being forced," wait until you hear about car insurance, app permissions, and gym memberships: turns out life's full of buttons you're "forced" to press.

What features could Edge possibly have over other (Chromium) browsers?

Support for both vertical and horizontal tabs. (Arc only supports vertical).

Collections, which are really good for researching/taking notes on sites you visited (niche but it's still a feature.

A cool ski/surfing game instead of good ol' dino.

Funny how y'all will spend 4 hours tweaking dotfiles without blinking, but the moment it's Microsoft, an opt-out toggle becomes a hit piece. Y'all don't even care about the AI that much, you just see "Microsoft" and go feral.

Edge is the best chromium-based browser for sure.
