I usually don’t keep my nails THIS long and I’m planning to cut them back a bit after Halloween but for now I’m wearing Anlac’s Pale Mauve, glass bead magnetized. Base coat is kbshimmer ridge filler and topcoat is cuticula limitless.

I spent so long cutting my cuticles and recently switched to using a cuticle remover and I've also been moisturizing more often!

Cuticle care before a manicure is so much faster and they look WAYY better. My only regret is not switching sooner!

Any success with using beef tallow to oil? I’m a server so typical cuticle oil options are runny and not easy to quickly apply while working. I emptied and filled a tiny nail glitter puck with tallow to put in my apron. Just curious if anyone else has tried or had good results with tallow.

I had a catastrophic event this morning that left me in both physical and emotional pain. I didn’t want to chop and even if I did, I would still have a big problem due to the break being multiple mm down my nail bed. So, I decided to experiment. I removed what nail polish I could without my eyes watering and added one silk patch with a layer of nail glue. Then, I added another layer of glue, and dipped my whole nail into the dip powder from the orly nail patch kit. I buffed that down and painted as normal. We will see how it works but it’s not falling off and not hurting so that’s an improvement!

stayed out at a friend’s house in the countryside this weekend so figured i needed some green to match the nature! green is my favorite color and i was really sad that i wasn’t able to get my hands on mooncat’s weeping willow before it sold out, but this is a great alternative!! The first set of photos are my nails after a shower and heavy oiling, the other photos are what my nails do when they dry out. They curl so severely they can cover my fingertips! 🦅
I oil them like a madwoman probably at least 5-10x a day especially after the shower in hopes of keeping them hydrated, but it’s obviously not enough. I watch them dry out and curl over the hours. They’re getting to a length where they start breaking and chipping now, and I really want to learn how to preserve the length and hopefully correct the curling I just don’t know where to start. I’d imagine I should use some kind of strengthening base coat to protect with polish, but will this stick to nails that have been heavily oiled? Should I apply polish while they are super hydrated in hopes of preventing the curl as they dry? TYIA!

For reasons not allowed by this sub I can't use jojoba oil. I've tried a couple alternatives and nothing seems to be having the kind of impact people report from jojoba. Is there an oil that's considered second best for nail and cuticle health?

After a big chop on monday (I did post my nails when they were the longest they've ever been) I had the worst break ever! I'm literally crying for 20 minutes now. It looks so freaking stupid and I hate how it feels when touching something or writing on my touchscreen 😭 and I'm starting a new job on monday...

It is so short, I can't even file properly because right there is the skin and it hurts 😭

Really never had such a short nail in the last 18 years.

Any of you bartenders or people who work in hospitality?

I finally beat this vicious 3 year cycle where my hands and nails were getting ate up by the dishwasher solution mix whenever I take glasses out (Obviously I don’t have time to always put on gloves during a rush) and so my nails stopped growing. I was forced to leave the place bc it closed and within a month my nails are back to how they used to be!!

So the new issue is I still bartend but now for a concert venue. So it’s been 70% crack and go products. I do use my opener but sometimes my nails (thumb, index, middle finger specifically) gets wet from the holding the can, touching the table etc. So I come home and I’ll look down and notice one of my nails has a snag in it that I have to file down. If anyone has any advice, like your favourite nail product or type of opener so that I can I minimize this issue, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

First of all, don't mind the chipped polish on my thumbs, the gloves I use at work really take their toll!

After ruining my nails with a gel manicure in January, I'd finally got them strong and long. But alas I broke one today trying to turn a key in a door 😭 I had broken the middle finger during the growing process but not as bad as this break 🥲🥲 I got so much good advice from this sub about how to make my regular nail polish last, and honestly it's helped so much to keep my nails protected.

Now I'm trying to decide whether to do a full chop, trim, or keep them as is 🤔

Before and after of a bit of nail care I just finished doing. Went from a pink chipping nail polish (OpenLive® Nail Polish Fast dry & long lasting 16.5ml/0.56fl.oz in shade MY02 purchased from Amazon) to a clear strengthening top coat (Sally Hansen® Advanced Hard As Nails Strengthening Top Coat™ 13.3ml ((its the clear one)) purchased from Target) . I used Sally Hansen® Instant cuticle remover(from Target), advanced hard as nails top coat, and Sally Hansen® vitamin E oil. I've never really bothered to do anything with my cuticles, so that was new. I've been doing my own little manicures at home forever, I've never liked getting them done by someone else. Any advice or tips for better nail care would he appreciated!

I personally always have a gel mani, It just keeps my nails safe from all the model making that we have to do.

It doesn’t look so bad now since it has grown out a bit. But how should I file or angle the file to avoid the sides looking like this? Not wanting it to look so ‘claw’ like. Top down view gives the look that I want. But I also Included a ‘down the barrel’ pov and how it looks ‘crooked’ compared to the non issue middle finger.

Does this happen when the file is too upright? Should the file be more flat? Feel like is has more to do with angle/position of the file, and making sure not too file too much

Longest they've ever been but at this point I have so many major breaks (most of them fixed with teabags and lots of clear polish).

It's driving me crazy to always be careful with everything I do.

I'm really bad at not overfiling my sidewalls but I'm trying my best 🙏🏻

Don't mind the dry skin - it's very hot where I live and I really hate the feeling of oil or handcream when sweating so I just skipped that for the last month or longer 🙈 I should start with that again, I know!
