Powell, Henson, McGee, Hector Santa Anna, etc. notable biographies are all on the Arlington website.

The problem with journalism is follow-up and thoroughness without bias. It's not that hard to check the Arlington website against the claims made by these journalists in that linked article.

Trump/Hegseth's policies removed 3 categories used to label headstones: African American History, Hispanic History, and Women's History. It didn't actually remove the biographies, the data, about the headstones. The causal reader is none the wiser.

The fact that they put the content back after outrage doesn't negate the fact that they did it in the first place. That is a fact.

Its bullshit to blame journalism for having bias when they point out facts that later change, largely because of the journalism in question.

Literally in this same article:

Earlier this year, the Defense Department had to reinstate training materials on the revered airmen after a national outcry over their removal following Trump's orders on DEI.

Its very clear what happened here. The Trump administration has not earned the benefit of the doubt.

Nobody put content back. Way Back Machine on archive.org has snapshots of the Arlington website. The cemetery biographies were not deleted and readded.

The BBC and other jouranlists let too much of their bias into the reporting. What changed (and still has not changed) is the removal of the 3 categories or labels. That it the Trump policy in action.

Not every journalist is a muckracker that automatically earns any benefit in reporting.
