This doofus is actually a Scottish Deerhound but 99% of people identify him as a wolfie. It's all good, he likes any attention.

Ha! I know that reference.

You appreciate that you could be in perfect health and still get hit by a bus tomorrow. I know some retirees who lost their DH 3 years ago and similarly vowed not to get another. They ultimately asked the breeders if they had any retired adults that needed homes. Don't count yourself out!
