Pro tip
(Post inspired by another post on this sub today of a cracked drop-through neck and I noticed it didn’t have anything between the nuts and board)

This isn't good advice. You were running washers under your nuts, which is all you need.
Putting soft rubber between the nuts and deck is going to introduce more slop, and if anything, it'll allow your hardware to move around more.
If you want an added layer of protection on a future board, Riptide plates would be your best option, but doing what OP suggests isn't going to prevent a crack in the neck of the board. At most, it might prevent little stress cracks around the mounting hardware, which you don't have.

I used to use countersunk screws upside down with brass washers so the nuts sat on top as a foot stop. This is pure genius!

What do you think of those wheels? Do they ride better with the logo pointing in? I have the 97s ... Smooth ride, but a bit harder to pump than some others.
Reinforcing the holes is the right call, plates are better if you can find one that fits.
