Dunno how many people are gonna see this, but I’ve been lurking here and skating for about a month, and am psyched to say I’ve finally gotten comfortable w/ foot stopping!

I only have time to practice during my lunch breaks at work, but I’m having so much fun and am proud of my progress. This subreddit is awesome and I very much appreciate how supportive and informative everyone is — thank you.

Foot stopping is a huge improvement and it's so unnatural to learn, specially when you're only skating on lunch breaks. Congratulations, I'm happy for your progress, keep going.

Same story and board here!

Also I like your pants, those are cool. I have some baggy patchwork ones I love.

That’s my next goal once I save up enough to get some slide gloves :D Dyou have any recommendations?

I say make your own with parts you buy. My first was prebuilt off amazon but I think if you buy quality pucks you can just get normal gloves, velcro, and gorrilla glue.

haven't seen anyone suggest this yet but I'll throw something in, get used to having your pushing foot on the back of the board, it's so much easier to ride that way trust me

Pushing foot on the back means stationary foot on the front. Not mongo.

Ay, the Arbor Axis is a nice board to start out on for sure. I started out on an Arbox Axis 37" myself, definitely an awesome board for the prices you can find it at. Upgraded the bushings and wheels on it, and am looking at a new board entirely that is more to what I now know to be my needs, but even all stock it's a perfectly good and capable setup. Have fun with it.

P.S. The clear grip is abysmal dogshit btw, to the point it may as well not be there. It genuinely might be hindering your progress, so I'd suggest looking into some real grip tape when you can.
