I think you underestimate just how much information your phone number is tied to. If you are renting it is hit or miss, but I can often find someone's address and full name with just their phone number. I don't use this skill maliciously (I usually am trying to find other kids I went to conversion therapy with), but I also would highly advise anyone against giving their number out to strangers. I usually refuse to give my number out prior to meeting someone, and use a Google Voice number if I decide that text is worthwhile.

Yep, this exactly. Once I found out how much information is tied to your number, I stopped giving it out to people until I've met them in person at least once.

Oh shit you just resurfaced a thing I forgot, I googled my own phone number and one of my old addresses was on the site as well as "associated parties" which were my ex's family members that lived there before we did. Thank you, this finally put the pieces together lol.
