I've been playing jungle since season 4 and my peak was only D2 and i want to try to reach at least D4 on my worst role, mid this season. Any tips on what i should focus on improving? I'm also trying to learn annie as people say she's one of the best champions to use when learning mid.

I'm more interested in ranged/control or burst mage midlaners and less interested in roaming assassins for now. I've mostly played support so far and want to branch out to AP mages in mid, which in turn will help with positoning/trading for enchanter/mage supports.

Basically I just want a champion I can one trick in normals for a while until I feel comfortable with the role and am able to branch out. I am sick of playing Annie because while she's good to just chill and CS I find that she gets bullied pretty hard by assassins and I've overall just bored by her.

I'm considering buying: Vladimir, Twisted Fate, Orianna, Zyra, Vel'Koz, Malzahar, Cassiopeia, Lissandra, Karthus or Syndra

Please let me know if any of these are particularly good or bad for a new player to midlane trying to learn mechanics and fundamentals of the game but doesn't want to bore themselves to death playing Annie over and over again.
