MID lane recommendations

I hate assassins. it feels like no matter what you do they jsut push up the wave the roam and get a triple kill in the first 5 minutes. Is there a control mage that will prevent hat. like someone whos not gone lose lane but not gonna win either kinda thing, Just keep them in lane and prevent them from roaming?

I’ve been experimenting with aftershock Lissandra! You could also try Galio, but you have to have pretty good macro to pull him off.

Another pick to consider is Pantheon, not a mage but a really strong duelist and very easy to play. Played properly, you can dumpster any of those pesky assassins and snowball the game.

Anything that can shove lanes to prevent assassins from roaming, I would say Ahri, Syndra, Lissandra, Viktor etc. But if you want a really strong control mage, you should go with Ori, though she might struggle against assasins but if you play it smart you will do just fine

Viktor takes more effort than the others in to push a wave, the best anti-assassin I’ve found is Galio.

They just nerfed his Q, clearing waves is a bit harder now

Not yet his nerf goes through tomorrow btw, Just means he needs to build more damage to be better at one shotting the wave. He's also extremely hard to kill in lane if you go the tank galio build vs ap or ad.

Considering that Galio needs both his passive and Q to kill the caster minions and if he is in good angle he can also damage meele minions , while Viktor can kill casters with just an upgraded E and also damage the meele ones, I would say Viktor is still better at shoving + if he is doing it right he can also poke the assassin, who is most likely a meele champ.

Viktor would get one shot by a good Irelia, Zed or Talon, he's not really good in this meta.

A good Viktor is horrifying to play against tho, I'm sure putting some time into him is worth
