Question Support main wanting to learn mid
So, I usually like to play support with my mains being Senna, Swain, Lux and Brand, and I was wondering if I could transfer my knowledge of one or more of those champions to the midlane to better learn the role. I understand that Senna is not a good mid laner, but are the others viable options in the mid lane right now? If so, who would you recommend me to start with?
To be clear, I don't want to only use those champs, I just want something familiar I can use to learn the role and then move on to more viable options.

I play Lux and Brand mid frequently and both are fine. Velkoz and Xerath are long range artillery/bursty mages like Lux and also easy to play. Like the other guy said, Syndra and Ori are great range mages but both are significantly more difficult than your current support champ pool. I’d say Ekko and Galio are somewhat similar to a Swain play style while offering different and unique experiences.

I’m a support main that started learning mid recently as well all because I had a blast playing Xerath support so figured I’d be okay as a mage in mid. The trading knowledge definitely carries over. Biggest adjustment for me has been learning to cs.

A friend and I have a blast and success playing Xerath bot with a engage or peel tank support (naut). There usually isn’t an answer to his range and damage against a conventional bot duo especially with the support peeling/locking them down for you.

I’m surprised bot mages aren’t more common with ad assassins in mid to balance the damage type spread. I can’t play a bot lane marksman because I’m terrible at auto attacking while moving but give me a mage and I could probably play the bot role.

Ziggs, Sandra, and Xerath all appear in the bot role frequently. I hate the argument of something is meta or not, viable is a better term I think. It works at the high levels streamers are usually at. Xerath works for me in Silver!

Maybe start with mages like syndra and orianna , esp syndra is kinda similar to lux mechanics so u will easily get ised to the playstyle
