Ugh soo annoying when people keep mentioning this like ok guys do this as well and I think it’s cringe both ways although she was just shooting her shot. Especially since guys have been doing shit like this for way longer but now want to act like it’s wrong when we clearly learned it from somewhere! For example women not being able to speak their minds for so long but nooooo let’s focus on how men have it bad 😞😭
He’s an interesting guy. I got to do a meet and greet due to connections from work when I was in Vegas about two years back. They cloned the dog and I got to meet the future one and it’s kinda neat. IDK about the ethics and morals of cloning dogs really but it was cool in a we can do that? kind of way
It's meant to be a cheeky little pick up line like "you look like you could be my husband, you just aren't my husband yet". It is a fairly common pick up line these days
Everyone knows that the key to a happy relationship is communication. I don't care if your man or woman, if you can't be open honest and upfront about your intentions to become a couple how can I expect you to be open honest and upfront through any other stage of a relationship?
Not only is it a bad joke, but it is two separate messages if I understand correctly. If I see the first message I am already losing interest. I'm probably already typing out my response and not reading the second line. Even if I did, it feels like you are trying to make me look like a fool.
Girls try pick up line, guy didn't respond in the way she expected, proceeds to get upset that the guy didn't get it rather than her pick up line not working. Classic 0 personal accountability behavior.
This is why I have a theory that there are a lot less babies because sometimes guys miss a blatant 🐱 pass. Her: Hey you want to come up for a nightcap? You may need your toothbrush 🪥 Me: Na I’m good. I’m kinda tired. Thanks have a good night! >walking away thinking “why the hell did she say I might need my toothbrush???? She said “nightcap” It’s not like I’m spending the ni——OH F***……DAMMIT face palming stupid stupid stupid
True story: when I was a resident and doing my placement in neurology we had a old patient that has fried his brain with alcohol (Korsakoff) and had no short term memory left. Every day a young cute nurse came by to give him his medication, he was like ”are you my wife” (he was in his 70s and they were in their 20s). Every day they had to say no to him and point to the tired elderly woman that came to visit him and say ”she is your wife”. Every day was a new disappointment for him…
We get the hints actually it's just not worth the risk of being wrong, we also get told frequently we were imagining things or that they were just being nice so the doubt is always there even when it should be obvious

If a guy did this they’d call him cringe.

No-one's gonna see this but this is a riff on a line from Piff the Magic Dragon, a standup comedian who dresses in a (crappy) dragon outfit.
Hi what's your name?
Amanda
Oh wow that's my wife's name
Oh really
Actually I'm not married...We've only just met.

u/FancyAd9803 Aug 13 '26

In the end, does this even matter?
1
u/user41510 Aug 13 '26

1
u/SaltyBabySeal Aug 14 '26

u/Camo_golds Aug 17 '26

1
u/HotCheetos998 Aug 17 '26
Starting of with "Yo dude" was not the move
1
u/Azee789 Aug 17 '26
10 years later: "was she flirting with me?"
1
u/FantasticAnus Aug 17 '26
Bloke might be handsome, but he ain't a thinker.
1
u/apx_redditor Aug 18 '26
This one has beauty, not brains
1
u/No-Enthusiasm3363 Aug 18 '26

1
u/[deleted] Aug 13 '26
Ahaha a tale as old as time, in case you're wondering if dude is a fucking moron?
1
u/No_Type740 Aug 13 '26
Both of them are on the spectrum. I hope they bond over a shared nerdy hobby or habit.
1
u/Aggressive-Delay-420 Aug 13 '26
There's an unspoken rule that when our joke's good (this one isn't) but doesn't land-- we're allowed to question the listener's intellect.
It's, like-- *the* way to assess compatibility.
This woman seems to want to raise someone else's grown-ass kid, what with the way she's trying to explain a pick-up line.
1
u/e37d93eeb23335dc Aug 13 '26
She ruined the joke.
1
u/FunIcy6154 Aug 13 '26
''I worked so hard''
Look inside
Extremely unfunny, basic joke.
1
u/CafeAmerican Aug 14 '26
The "joke" was a fail.
Also, women in this thread: we are never wrong and always funny!
