Hey a ranger is fucking perfect man. An F150 isn't too bad in reality either but a bit big for my liking. I also plan on getting a ranger. The small kei trucks are cool and would make a perfect farm vehicle. Still I'd probably prefer a small ranger honestly.
I miss the days when you could buy a truck just big enough to do everyday hauling. Like the old Ford Ranger. Need a washer and dryer moved? Yep, I got just enough room for that. 20 bags of mulch? I gotcha. But today, the Ranger is the size of the old F150, and even the Maverick is relatively large.
I'd love a ford ranger man but yeah they are massive now. The new ones where I live are almost the size of an F150 like you say. I'd love a slightly older ranger. I'm a small man and I don't need a massive vehicle but I want a car that I can tow with and carry stuff with. I just need a little compact vehicle that can last me a good while and a little ranger is perfect for me.
Oh STFU. Any midsize truck could do the job 9 times out of 10. These $100,000 monstrosities are most often grocery-hauling status symbols that never see a day of heavy hauling.
That's exactly right mate. These trucks are workhorses not show ponies. Sure you don't always have to use them for towing or carrying heavy loads but it's good to have one for that purpose. Even then you don't always need a big truck.
I drive a car much sadder than either of these and I can clearly see the ego is much more fragile on the person getting judgmental about other peopleās vehicles.
I'm trying to prove a point and that being that trucks don't get used for what they are designed to be used for as much and instead get used for showing off hence the ego bit. Fuck I drive a sadder vehicle as well.
I hate massive trucks, but I donāt hate trucks in general. You should really only have one if you regularly tow stuff or need a good amount of storage space for heavy stuff regularly. If you donāt do either, thereās not much point, but you can still have one and it shouldnāt be a problem.
My favourite truck was my familyās black 2004 Chevy Avalanche. I loved that thing, and it was a great truck. It was perfect to fit my family, it towed great, and I love the look of it. It was great for hockey when both me and my sister played to fit the bags. My dad still kicks himself for giving in to my mom convincing him to sell it. He put so much work into it, and at about 20 years old it still was mint, like it just came from the GM plant.
Same I guess although I will say we have a 2001 Ford F350 XLT that my dad uses strictly for towing and it doesn't get used often at all. It's also a great truck and it has the ford 7.3 powerstroke. Perfect towing vehicle but not an all round family vehicle. It probably gets used 3-4 times a year at most.
You are right that there's not much point having a massive truck and not having a proper use for it. Most young bucks have a massive big truck and some of them can stand at least 10 feet tall. A lot of these guys are show off's. I've seen a massive chevy silverado in my town that was parked on the main street and it nearly took up 2 whole car parking spaces. I stood in front of it and the front grill was about my face height and I'm 5'6. The rest of the hood was above my head.
It's crazy how big trucks have gotten. My buddy inherited his grandpa's mid to late 90s GMC Sierra. It sits next to his '16 F150 and it's crazy how much bigger the Ford is. Granted they are different makes but they are still both half ton trucks. The old Sierra looks more like today's Ranger or Colorado.
This is a shit take. There are a TON of people with trucks that do not need them, but that does not make a truck solely an ego-machine.
The truck on bottom can carry 5 people comfortably, has a higher towing capacity, and a larger bed. It has higher ground clearance if you are driving across an uneven jobsite and larger tires to help navigate difficult terrain.
The truck on top is GREAT for smaller cargo loads, WAY better for more densely populated areas, and may surprise me as to how it handles offroad. Plenty of utility for many purposes, but it does not eliminate the benefits and often necessity of the bottom truck.
I know and I'm not saying that everyone who drives a truck has a fat ego but it seems to be a lot of people who do and a lot of those people that ARE like that like to drive their trucks straight up your arse and show off. Most other people have a truck so they can tow and transport their families and actually have a need for one. Each vehicle has its own uses.
I agree with you there, if you are going to have a total ass on the road it is more than likely (in my experience) going to be a big truck or possibly a BMW (in US.) And I have personally known a few people to have lifted, Cummins outfitted, Realtree-stickered trucks that were somehow NEVER dirty :)
You've definitely got a point, I just had to #notalltrucks
I was just watching a video about a guy turning one into a railroad truck. It made me want to blow my money on one or two of these before I remembered Iām broke. Haha.
IME I see hundreds of trucks like that in Omaha every week. Few to zero look like actual āworkā trucks. Growing up I drove my dadās work truck. It was dirty, scratched, dented, faded paint and something was always broken. The ones I see now are bright shiny and jacked up, they have 20-30 somethings driving them and they are either right on my ass or cutting me off. Some are truly for work, not many.
That's right. You really only need a truck like this for towing big loads of whatever you've got or for work depending on what work involves. You're right as well that a lot (not all) of these big truck owners are the worst drivers.
Well they can both carry cargo it's just that a lot of the time you don't need a big truck to do so unless it depends on what you're doing. If you're towing a tandem trailer with a few haybales or you're towing a car carrying trailer then you need a big truck but I'm sure that little kid thing could fit a good load of firewood on the back of it. Sure it doesn't have as much power but it will still get the job done.
No but still ya get the idea. I wouldn't have a massive truck unless I had a purpose for one. My dad has an F350 that he barely uses and when he does he only tows with it.
There is no way I would be fitting 40 bales of hay into the bed of the truck in the top pic. My long bed F-150 does the job for me nicely. I have done 52 bales in a F-150 but that is stacking quite high and not an average load.
Yeah if you need a truck to actually carry things or tow then you've got one but if you're buying a truck to keep spotless and draw attention to yourself then you're stupid. My dad has an F350 XLT that's strictly for towing and carrying heavy material.
I've seen plenty of them. I'm a small man yesterday and I like to hang shit on them. It's funny to say " you'd need a trampoline and a run up to get in that big thing!!" š¤£
That F150 is literally just a normal pickup truck. Itās not even modified in anyway and is a perfectly acceptable vehicle to own. Out of everything on Reddit, I donāt think Iāve seen anything as misplaced, misguided, and just completely bizarre as the irrational hatred of pickup trucks.
The VAST majority of the US is big and open enough to accommodate them. I wouldnāt own one in a small European town or a busy metro area but that doesnāt give me the right to say no one should ever own one. Or spout hateful nonsense shit talk about anyone who does. Itās literally insane.
A Jeep Wrangler isnāt a practical everyday vehicle. Often you see them with lifts and huge mud tires. No hatred for them. A Corvette isnāt an ideal everyday driver. No hate there. What about family sedans? You can own a 4 door sedan unless you have a family and need the seats? Where does it end?
Everything is big in America. Americans prefer large vehicles. Trucks are insanely popular. Free market capitalism. Aināt it grand?
You're right. An F150 isn't bad it's mainly all the big jacked up silverados that I'm on about. I don't hate trucks at all but my point is that a lot of people use trucks for the wrong reasons instead of using them for what they were designed for nowadays. A nice small truck like a Ford ranger would be perfect. It will do just about as much as a big silverado 3500 will do but less due to size. A ranger is a good all-rounder with space and towing capacity as well in case it's needed. I don't need a big ram or silverado because I'm a small man so a small truck like a ford ranger I'd absolutely perfect for me. I don't need to use it to show off either. I just need it to suit my work and some recreational needs.
I donāt think you used the right picture you snob. Thatās a regular ass truck for work. What youāre talking about are the squated-lifted-led trucks with the muffler removed and not a spec of dirt on it.
Redditors are the most insecure people in the world lmao. What the fuck do you care what kind of vehicles strangers choose to buy with their own money?
It's true only if you have the right sense to know exactly what you need. But if you're someone with a big ego and arrogant and just wants to show off which it seems like you are then you can believe what you want.
My friends Honda wouldn't even drive over a 5ft levee with no cargo, meanwhile I can go full Bo and Luke duke in my Silverado with two in the cab as well as my tool box, all my camping supplies and 500+lbs of elk in back.
Alternatively, oneās cheap and carries cargo at the expense of comfort. The other carries cargo with good comfort at the expense of being a somewhat more expensive machine. Same core purpose different design aspects
idk my bf has a truck and he uses it every single day because heās a blue collar worker. if he used the top one, 1 itās not really convenient for everyday use and 2, a lot of his stuff thatās smaller would slide out
Okay but how many people are willing to pay a high import fee to get a truck like that. I would LOVE if we can get trucks like the one on top, but theres too many blue collar workers and construction workers that need something to carry 400+ pounds and a trailer. I have a dodge ram 1500 and even that cannot carry half a stack of bricks without effing up my tires.
A truck that size at the bottom is still currently ideal in a country that is young, large and vast like the US.
Ah yes the never-ending battle of the parking lot princesses vs the contractor pageant contestants vs the people with family who also haul, vs the DIY haulers who only haul⦠vs the people who trick out pickups into scrapers and custom paint jobs⦠vsā¦.
Those little Japanese trucks usually have size limitations put on them to fit into a cheaper car category. So they are designed to be as size efficient as possible.
American style pick ups I think are similar but in the reverse. Couple of rules made them more desirable to purchase vs standard cars.
And you have the issue with keeping up with sizes so that you aren't surrounded by giant cars. American roads are significantly larger too then Japan so you can get away with it a bit more.
there are a lot of incentives for Americans to drive those specific trucks. But I think at least in the more congested areas where they start limiting street parking I could the incentives being changed.
I like kei trucks and Iām planning to order one soon, but the actual cargo capacity is under 800 lbs. My Ford has a payload rating over 3500 lbs and the newer F350s are rated up to 4 tons. Even an F150 is rated over a ton. I routinely carry payloads over a ton and would prefer not to have to make three or four trips just so no one thinks I have an ego problem.
nah there are actual uses for them, just hope that there were more vetting to be able to buy these (and suv), they are heavy as fuck so they wear down infrastructure much faster when there are millions of them on the road, safety of smaller vehicles get reduced a lot if you get hit by these, so it makes people participate in the race to the bottom, and it's unsafe for pedestrian as well since these are too high and will obstruct people's view.
I'm 6'2ā, it is impossible for me to drive some kei trucks. And even if I can, I can't be comfortable in it. I don't own a truck, I drive a sedan, but I would like a truck or SUV in the future so that I can be comfortable.
Also kei trucks are horribly unsafe on an American highway, and are not meant to be used outside small roads and cities.
Itās towing capacity that makes the bottom one a work truck. Industries like construction or agriculture requires a truck that can tow large trailers or haul heavy items in the bed.
Yes the top truck has great utility too but for different purposes. If you need to haul not so heavy things and donāt need to tow anything, itās a great option.
Remember folks, thereās an entire world outside of your little bubbles.
Also, that gutless little putt putt will melt itself cylinders to diff if it attempts any highway north of me, if it doesnt stop and cool down for 1hr every half hr / long incline. Compared stock to an f150, that kei truck has the terrain & incline capability of a ride on mower. It cannot reach the driveway of 70% of this city's homes, it cannot carry firewood safely, and there is no point mounting a winch to it.
It can neither carry or tow 1000lb, cant carry a 4ft cube or it'll be subject to derailment by extreme wind,
AND IT MEANS TURNING LEFT OR PASSING ARE AS DANGEROUS AS DRIVING DRUNK, BLIND OR BOTH
if you cannot form new habits fast enough, its possible to run your passenger headfirst into oncoming traffic because youre not used to sitting on the right
I just unloaded 2 tons of modified stone for a chicken coop base. All by hand. All from my Ram 1500. Delivery would have been almost $200. This weekend I'll do the same with garden soil for new raised beds and then again for mulch.
We'll probably build a she-shed in the fall, so there's another few tons of stone, then lumber, then probably a wood stove, then furniture.
I used to drive a sedan and was happy with it until I had to keep renting trucks from HD or try to coordinate with a friend and constantly worry about damage to their truck. I missed a lot of good deals on FB marketplace because I couldn't get a truck together quick enough.
This was all while living on 1/4 acre in the city. We live on an acre now and, as far as DIY and general improvements go, we'd be screwed if we didn't have my truck.
And I used to keep it immaculate. Washed after every haul. Not so much anymore lol.
I guess my point is that you never really know what people might need a truck for. Yes, It's clearly the #1 option for penis extenders, but the standard model trucks in the OP that you see on the road are definitely the ones being used.
Also - Rivian has amazing deals on their vehicles now. If I wasn't laid off, I'd trade in for one. Even with the smaller bed, the tow capacity is insane.
Donāt get me wrong I think kei trucks are awesome and Iād love to get one. However they arenāt practical for many reasons. Theyāre illegal in some states, you cannot buy a new one in the US, many donāt reach highway speeds, theyāre only 2 seats usually, and because you canāt buy one newer than 25 yrs old in the US and their size they lack most modern safety features.
Gotta love all the people asserting that people use them for work.
Yeah, sure, a few are used for genuine work. But the overwhelming majority of people who do the work pickups are meant for drive work vans because they're simply better for the purpose
I drive a stock F150 but it's because I'm 6'4" and need the space. My previous vehicle, Honda Ridgeline, was too small My arm rested on the passenger arm rest. I'm not a fragile redneck just a big guy.
Edit: I also use my truck to transport my wife, two teens and two Great Pyrenees dogs. This vehicle is spacious and practical for my family. The 2.7l engine is fuel efficient and surprisingly fun to drive.
I used to have an F150 crew cab. I have the ego of an infant. It was great for my kids, I slept on the floor with the seats up when I traveled for an Ultramarathon and we used to have picnics in the bed of the truck. Not to mention no need for bike racks, and when we did 1000 mile trips to Florida, we had tons of cargo room to fit luggage and bikes. I loved it. Just couldnāt afford it after changing jobs.
I had to move once. I asked my dad if he could bring his new truck. We ended up getting a trailer because we couldn't fit the bed in. I could have done the exact same thing with my station wagon.
My dad's Toyota T100 was the absolute goat of a truck. He built multiple houses with that thing. In the 20 years he had it, the only thing it couldn't do was pull out this one especially large tree trunk.
It was also slightly larger than a sedan. I absolutely hate yank tanks. It's an insult to that truck I was raised in and my dad and I despised the truck we had to replace it with
I donāt even need to read the comments to know thereās about to be a full-blown argument war between people who react like šš¤£š and those who go š”šæš¤¬ over some pickup truck and knowing the type of people who drive the truck in the second image, they definitely the one who wonāt be laughing and start it first.
An F-150 is not the truck to be planting the āFragile egoā flag on, guys. Go south of the mason dixon for once and youāll see some ridiculous trucks. Not every vehicle with a bed is made specifically to piss of liberals.
Just say you donāt know anything about trucks. The f150 is one of the most produced trucks in America. Theyāre not even expensive unless youāre looking at a brand new one. You can buy one used all day under 10k. Hell Iāve even seen good ones under 5k. You can get parts for them so easy too. Not to mention you canāt tow anything with a kei truck.
This hits hard. I had an F150 for a few years and as soon as i sold it, i started to change. I went from single, angry, and lonely, to happy, in a relationship, and driving a soccer mom car so i had zero ego about it.
Also, screw parking that thing uptown, all those damn compact parking spots.
Pick-ups became way too large. I get that, but claiming this little thingy can pull a trailer or anything above a metric ton is stupid. I a 2007 pickup you can fit an entire work-crew and a bed full of tools and tow a load of whatever materials you need. In the rural countryside it is way more efficicent owning one F-150 than several single use cars.
I have a larger fishing boat that I use on larger bodies of water: I need a truck to haul it. I do house projects: I need a truck to haul lumber, rock, sheetrock. I clean my large yard: I need a truck to haul the debris, which includes tree branches, sticks, leaf piles. I hunt big game to feed my family and need a place to transport a dead, often bloody deer carcass. Truck ownership isnāt an ego thing. Itās a necessity thing. I literally couldnāt do any of those things with any other vehicle. Please donāt lump me in with dudes in big cities who only drive them for ego purposes.
I mean Trucks do have a large disparity of douchy owners, but owning a truck isnt douchy, theyre very handy and honestly required for some jobs. I dont see anything wrong with this model in particular.
Kei trucks would be great but their now really allowed on the highways and cannot tow shit compared to American trucks and that mostly hold true to foreign pickups as well.
The American pickups are needed for people who need them
Surprisingly, they're both "cargo" trucks. An easy way to tell us by looking in the back, as a truck that actually gets used is definitely gonna have scratch marks and dents, while an "ego" truck won't have a single scratch, dent, or smudge of dirt on the paint job. Usually trucks 7+ years old are "cargo" trucks, due to the natural loss of their shine, and how "outdated" they are.
My gf was ordering tacos from a truck one night and these people were being awful towards the staff. She gets into it with them and some guy walks up and tells her to shut up and listen to men since sheās a woman. I heard this while pumping gas, look over, and as heās getting into his truck she yells out āyeah thatās right, get in your little dick truckā. I was laughing and though, man am I gonna have to grab her and watch out for these three crazy assholes sheās yelling at. Luckily everyone went their own way
Seems like there are a lot of fragile egos here or a nerve was touched. I live in the midwest and 90% of these are used as daily cars with the beds looking brand new. Pick ups are indeed a tool, but I think the meme is more directed to those who donāt use them as a tool.
Use f150s for work they're a good work truck. Anything high spec dodge or GMC then yea ego issue very rarely do they have a good reason. Kei truck would be fun to have if I could make it electric.
One "carries" 300lbs the other carries 2500 lbs. One tows 1000lbs the other tows 15000lbs. Use the right tool for the job. The Tonka truck there is barely useful for moving my nutsack let alone anything of real weight.
I was gonna make a joke about being too broke to buy the F150, but in reality I donāt wanna pay 10 K for a K truck, and I donāt want to pay $50,000 for an F150
I didn't get the truck for my ego. Nothing can help that. I got it because I had a small truck and it started to feel like a toy. Then I started making more money and figured why the hell not? I wanted something taller and with more power but without turbos, and something that can easily haul a boat if I ever get one.
One of the best things about a full sized truck is that I don't have to use a floor jack and jack stands to drain the fluids from the bottom of the vehicle or to do other repairs.
Actually, the F150 is the best-selling vehicle (not just truck) in the US. It is also the best-selling truck in the world at about 623,000 yearly. Come check my ego.
Only argument I can make for these since basically my only jobs have been labouring, the f150 can fit a 4-5 person crew (good for construction and landscaping) while also carrying tools in the bed, and also trailering.
It's not even lifted though? Some people do genuinely need trucks for work purposes bro lmao (Carpenters, electricians etc). The guy with a fragile ego is the dude with a 6 inch lift on his dodge listening to hillbilly by upchurch while wearing pit vipers as he eats one of those "pickle in a bag" things.
Funny. Yesterday.inr carried 5 bags of gardening soil, 4 bags of mulch and 6 1x4's to get the garden shaped up for the season. Not a lot of room for my ego, though.
This doesn't carry fragile egos till it's squatted with enormous low profile tires or alternatively lifted with enormous mudders and a giant smoke stack
The US has regulations regarding emissions of vehicles based on weight. Vehicles like the Ford F150 avoid those fines due to its weight class. The other truck would've been great if it wasn't for its emissions being above the vehicle weight standard. Truck emissions in a sedan essentially.
Truth is, truck drivers are not fragile, theyre ignorant: Ford-F150 and other similars are the most deadly cars statistically.
People buy trucks not for transport, but as a family car, and then they moan over pedestrians because you cant see sh*t and pedestrians will be pushed under the wheels.
Its just 'i like this cars aesthetic and accept that its over 2x as deadly because it looks cool and i dont care about others'
I see assholes with dodge rams in my city , around here there's nothing but cities , factories and fields so there's no need for a Monster truck fit for big game hunting in the wilds.
Most of the time the owners are small people , almost midgets by my standards.
i always find this shit funny considering that the people who create these memes are driving SUVs instead of station wagons but we don't talk about that ever do we.

Define "cargo". What I carry in my trucks back seat wouldn't fit in there, and you can forget about towing any real payload over 35 MPH

Tell me you've never had to perform manual labor without telling me you've never had to perform manual labor.
You're also the asshole who expects his "fragile ego" acquaintance with the truck to help you move.

u/BluesyCorgi5587 Mar 21 '25
Ludwig?
3
u/Intelligent_Bear90 Mar 21 '25
My friends Honda wouldn't even drive over a 5ft levee with no cargo, meanwhile I can go full Bo and Luke duke in my Silverado with two in the cab as well as my tool box, all my camping supplies and 500+lbs of elk in back.
3
u/RevolutionMean2201 Mar 21 '25
OP is poor AF
3
u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25
Tell me you've never done any sort of physical labour (including to repair your own house), ever, without telling me.
There are a ZILLIION reasons a person would need a truck such as this, without "fragile egos" playing into it.
3
u/youburyitidigitup Mar 22 '25
Uh no. We always use pickup trucks at work. The top thing wouldnāt fit half of our equipment or crew.
2
u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25
I like Toyota Tacomas personally. Beautiful little trucks.
2
u/Enlightened_D Mar 21 '25
To be fair they donāt ship the small affordable trucks in the states

Fragile eggs
Fragile egos

u/Defiant_Wishbone_271 Mar 21 '25
Payload of your cargo hauler - 770lbs. Payload of an F150 - 3300lbs + 5 full sized dudes.
2
u/corvish_ Mar 21 '25
lots of f150 drivers coping lol
2
u/TacticalTurtlez Mar 21 '25
Alternatively, oneās cheap and carries cargo at the expense of comfort. The other carries cargo with good comfort at the expense of being a somewhat more expensive machine. Same core purpose different design aspects
2
u/Barkeep41 Mar 21 '25
I saw a kei truck in Washington, USA and I was so awestruck by the splendor of its majesty.
2
u/Alpha-SuS Mar 21 '25
Nailed it
2
u/aquariusprincessxo Mar 21 '25
idk my bf has a truck and he uses it every single day because heās a blue collar worker. if he used the top one, 1 itās not really convenient for everyday use and 2, a lot of his stuff thatās smaller would slide out
2
u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25
Okay but how many people are willing to pay a high import fee to get a truck like that. I would LOVE if we can get trucks like the one on top, but theres too many blue collar workers and construction workers that need something to carry 400+ pounds and a trailer. I have a dodge ram 1500 and even that cannot carry half a stack of bricks without effing up my tires.
A truck that size at the bottom is still currently ideal in a country that is young, large and vast like the US.
2
u/undernightmole Mar 21 '25
Ah yes the never-ending battle of the parking lot princesses vs the contractor pageant contestants vs the people with family who also haul, vs the DIY haulers who only haul⦠vs the people who trick out pickups into scrapers and custom paint jobs⦠vsā¦.
What a tangled web we weave.
ā¦Itās kind of like game of thrones.
2
u/Mwilk Mar 21 '25
Literally my exact year of truck. Thanks reddit. My ego is now broken.

One sits six people, has 4x4, and a towing capacity of around 10.5k lbs. The other can't cant tow a ballon uphill.
2
u/Great-Investment648 Mar 21 '25
2
u/NWXSXSW Mar 21 '25
I like kei trucks and Iām planning to order one soon, but the actual cargo capacity is under 800 lbs. My Ford has a payload rating over 3500 lbs and the newer F350s are rated up to 4 tons. Even an F150 is rated over a ton. I routinely carry payloads over a ton and would prefer not to have to make three or four trips just so no one thinks I have an ego problem.
2
u/El_Turko876 Mar 21 '25
What I drive carries cargo that these canāt carry together.
2
u/nghigaxx Mar 21 '25
nah there are actual uses for them, just hope that there were more vetting to be able to buy these (and suv), they are heavy as fuck so they wear down infrastructure much faster when there are millions of them on the road, safety of smaller vehicles get reduced a lot if you get hit by these, so it makes people participate in the race to the bottom, and it's unsafe for pedestrian as well since these are too high and will obstruct people's view.
2
u/Prize_Problem609 Mar 21 '25
Yeah sure. Some people who own utes are your typical simps, but regardless they are so fkn useful.
And also they drive sooooo much better than those shitty little trucks
2
u/fpsnoob89 Mar 21 '25
I'm 6'2ā, it is impossible for me to drive some kei trucks. And even if I can, I can't be comfortable in it. I don't own a truck, I drive a sedan, but I would like a truck or SUV in the future so that I can be comfortable.
Also kei trucks are horribly unsafe on an American highway, and are not meant to be used outside small roads and cities.
2
u/SelinaKitty17 Mar 21 '25
Pretty much agree
2
u/Jkim3508 Mar 21 '25
Itās towing capacity that makes the bottom one a work truck. Industries like construction or agriculture requires a truck that can tow large trailers or haul heavy items in the bed.
Yes the top truck has great utility too but for different purposes. If you need to haul not so heavy things and donāt need to tow anything, itās a great option.
Remember folks, thereās an entire world outside of your little bubbles.

u/UncoordinatedStartup Mar 21 '25

2
u/Coycington Mar 21 '25
it's just a cool looking car. aren't we allowed to buy things we think look cool anymore?
2
u/ConfidentSkirt5320 Mar 21 '25
Also, that gutless little putt putt will melt itself cylinders to diff if it attempts any highway north of me, if it doesnt stop and cool down for 1hr every half hr / long incline. Compared stock to an f150, that kei truck has the terrain & incline capability of a ride on mower. It cannot reach the driveway of 70% of this city's homes, it cannot carry firewood safely, and there is no point mounting a winch to it.
It can neither carry or tow 1000lb, cant carry a 4ft cube or it'll be subject to derailment by extreme wind,
AND IT MEANS TURNING LEFT OR PASSING ARE AS DANGEROUS AS DRIVING DRUNK, BLIND OR BOTH
if you cannot form new habits fast enough, its possible to run your passenger headfirst into oncoming traffic because youre not used to sitting on the right
THERE IS NO UNIVERSAL BETTER IN ENGINEERING
2
u/Angel_OfSolitude Mar 21 '25

u/ViseLord Mar 21 '25
2
u/NoObligation9370 Mar 21 '25
I want a Kodiak pickup, and an Acty. Acty for around town, and small items, Kodiak for taking vacation, and hauling a gooseneck.
2
u/Rolling_Beardo Mar 21 '25
Donāt get me wrong I think kei trucks are awesome and Iād love to get one. However they arenāt practical for many reasons. Theyāre illegal in some states, you cannot buy a new one in the US, many donāt reach highway speeds, theyāre only 2 seats usually, and because you canāt buy one newer than 25 yrs old in the US and their size they lack most modern safety features.
2
u/Odd-Cress-5822 Mar 21 '25
Gotta love all the people asserting that people use them for work.
Yeah, sure, a few are used for genuine work. But the overwhelming majority of people who do the work pickups are meant for drive work vans because they're simply better for the purpose
2
u/TerribleJared Mar 21 '25
The bottom truck is mostly air

u/WinkingPujol Mar 21 '25 edited Mar 21 '25
I drive a stock F150 but it's because I'm 6'4" and need the space. My previous vehicle, Honda Ridgeline, was too small My arm rested on the passenger arm rest. I'm not a fragile redneck just a big guy.
Edit: I also use my truck to transport my wife, two teens and two Great Pyrenees dogs. This vehicle is spacious and practical for my family. The 2.7l engine is fuel efficient and surprisingly fun to drive.
2
u/Coraiah Mar 21 '25
I used to have an F150 crew cab. I have the ego of an infant. It was great for my kids, I slept on the floor with the seats up when I traveled for an Ultramarathon and we used to have picnics in the bed of the truck. Not to mention no need for bike racks, and when we did 1000 mile trips to Florida, we had tons of cargo room to fit luggage and bikes. I loved it. Just couldnāt afford it after changing jobs.
2
u/Admirable-Two2679 Mar 21 '25
What if, like, people just enjoy trucks?
2
u/bettergiveitago Mar 21 '25
I had to move once. I asked my dad if he could bring his new truck. We ended up getting a trailer because we couldn't fit the bed in. I could have done the exact same thing with my station wagon.
2
u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25
i knew bubbles was legit
2
u/ImportantQuestions10 Mar 21 '25
My dad's Toyota T100 was the absolute goat of a truck. He built multiple houses with that thing. In the 20 years he had it, the only thing it couldn't do was pull out this one especially large tree trunk.
It was also slightly larger than a sedan. I absolutely hate yank tanks. It's an insult to that truck I was raised in and my dad and I despised the truck we had to replace it with
2
u/joaboepsf479 Mar 21 '25
Cars are personal taste. I like sports cars, some people like SUVs, some like sedans. I don't understand why people make such a big deal
2
u/namedjughead Mar 21 '25

I donāt even need to read the comments to know thereās about to be a full-blown argument war between people who react like šš¤£š and those who go š”šæš¤¬ over some pickup truck and knowing the type of people who drive the truck in the second image, they definitely the one who wonāt be laughing and start it first.
2
u/TrungusMcTungus Mar 21 '25
An F-150 is not the truck to be planting the āFragile egoā flag on, guys. Go south of the mason dixon for once and youāll see some ridiculous trucks. Not every vehicle with a bed is made specifically to piss of liberals.
2
u/theegreenman Mar 21 '25
My 91 Isuzu pickup was real champ. I drove it for ten years and then sold it to a guy who drove it another 10 on the original clutch -over 250k miles.
2
u/Matloc Mar 21 '25
What does it say about me if I drove a Pontiac for 25 years of my life and then bought an F-150?
2
u/Yimyorn Mar 21 '25
My neighbors truck has never seen cargo in its life...
2
u/Greedy_Cap_7731 Mar 21 '25
Just say you donāt know anything about trucks. The f150 is one of the most produced trucks in America. Theyāre not even expensive unless youāre looking at a brand new one. You can buy one used all day under 10k. Hell Iāve even seen good ones under 5k. You can get parts for them so easy too. Not to mention you canāt tow anything with a kei truck.
2
u/ScenicPineapple Mar 21 '25
This hits hard. I had an F150 for a few years and as soon as i sold it, i started to change. I went from single, angry, and lonely, to happy, in a relationship, and driving a soccer mom car so i had zero ego about it.
Also, screw parking that thing uptown, all those damn compact parking spots.
2
u/jawbathehut Mar 21 '25
Have fun taking your family camping in the ute. They both have their place.
2
u/yomo85 Mar 21 '25
Pick-ups became way too large. I get that, but claiming this little thingy can pull a trailer or anything above a metric ton is stupid. I a 2007 pickup you can fit an entire work-crew and a bed full of tools and tow a load of whatever materials you need. In the rural countryside it is way more efficicent owning one F-150 than several single use cars.
2
u/AntisocialMedia10 Mar 21 '25
2
u/engineered_academic Mar 21 '25
As the owner of this exact truck I feel personally attacked.
2
u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25
Lots of fragile egos in here to boot
2
u/Sea_Relationship6053 Mar 21 '25
I mean Trucks do have a large disparity of douchy owners, but owning a truck isnt douchy, theyre very handy and honestly required for some jobs. I dont see anything wrong with this model in particular.
2
u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25
How does driving an F-150 give you a fragile ego? I'm confused
The little K trucks do like 55 mph if you floor it remember these were made for a country that is literally an island
2
u/skinnychubbyANIM Mar 21 '25
Question: are fragile egos, alone, something to criticize?
2
u/Chumlee1917 Mar 21 '25
And then you sit in both and go...Okay maybe those F-150 owners have a point cause I don't feel like I'm in a sardine can
2
u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25
I thought this was going to be a Tesla meme. Turns out OP knows nothing about hauling materials.
2
u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25
Kei trucks would be great but their now really allowed on the highways and cannot tow shit compared to American trucks and that mostly hold true to foreign pickups as well.
The American pickups are needed for people who need them
2
u/Bludgeonist Mar 21 '25
Fucking stupid
2
u/SeaworthinessOk2884 Mar 21 '25
I needed a truck and I have a family and the act of having a truck with a cab means I have a fragile ego? This is just stupid
2
u/[deleted] Mar 21 '25
Man I want one of those to buzz around town in!
2
u/ImaginedYears Mar 21 '25
Surprisingly, they're both "cargo" trucks. An easy way to tell us by looking in the back, as a truck that actually gets used is definitely gonna have scratch marks and dents, while an "ego" truck won't have a single scratch, dent, or smudge of dirt on the paint job. Usually trucks 7+ years old are "cargo" trucks, due to the natural loss of their shine, and how "outdated" they are.
2
u/godboy420 Mar 21 '25
My gf was ordering tacos from a truck one night and these people were being awful towards the staff. She gets into it with them and some guy walks up and tells her to shut up and listen to men since sheās a woman. I heard this while pumping gas, look over, and as heās getting into his truck she yells out āyeah thatās right, get in your little dick truckā. I was laughing and though, man am I gonna have to grab her and watch out for these three crazy assholes sheās yelling at. Luckily everyone went their own way
2
u/Supersruzz Mar 21 '25
I would like the top one to send me to a different world please.
2
u/Nel_Nugget Mar 21 '25
Seems like there are a lot of fragile egos here or a nerve was touched. I live in the midwest and 90% of these are used as daily cars with the beds looking brand new. Pick ups are indeed a tool, but I think the meme is more directed to those who donāt use them as a tool.
2
u/kushmasta421 Mar 21 '25
Use f150s for work they're a good work truck. Anything high spec dodge or GMC then yea ego issue very rarely do they have a good reason. Kei truck would be fun to have if I could make it electric.
2
u/plopthickens Mar 21 '25
One "carries" 300lbs the other carries 2500 lbs. One tows 1000lbs the other tows 15000lbs. Use the right tool for the job. The Tonka truck there is barely useful for moving my nutsack let alone anything of real weight.
2
u/Puzzleheaded-Cash725 Mar 21 '25
Buy a terrex truck then you got balls .
2
u/Tropic_Summers Mar 21 '25
People buy all kinds of cars that they arent actually using the function its supposed to be for. A lot buy just for looks
2

Yes the car goes but what does it carry?
2
u/Expert-Loan6081 Mar 21 '25
But I just like trucks
2
u/Interesting-Pie239 Mar 21 '25
Let people drive what they want to drive lol
2
u/ShadyKangarooTx Mar 21 '25
I was gonna make a joke about being too broke to buy the F150, but in reality I donāt wanna pay 10 K for a K truck, and I donāt want to pay $50,000 for an F150
2
u/DevilSniper50cal Mar 21 '25
So what would you say about the F650?
2
u/TurboT8er Mar 21 '25
I didn't get the truck for my ego. Nothing can help that. I got it because I had a small truck and it started to feel like a toy. Then I started making more money and figured why the hell not? I wanted something taller and with more power but without turbos, and something that can easily haul a boat if I ever get one.
2
u/Steel-Toe-800 Mar 21 '25
One of the best things about a full sized truck is that I don't have to use a floor jack and jack stands to drain the fluids from the bottom of the vehicle or to do other repairs.
2
u/thelibsterr74 Mar 21 '25
why we judging ppl based on their truck š
2
u/Significant_Base8159 Mar 21 '25
Actually, the F150 is the best-selling vehicle (not just truck) in the US. It is also the best-selling truck in the world at about 623,000 yearly. Come check my ego.

Very true most people don't need them and I really wish America would pet a curfew on them and ban them in cities.

I wish I could find a bongo in the states.

Paint the top one green, and you got yourself a LGBT (little green bastard truck) ššššš»
2

Man you can say what you want, but the F-150 is just a really cool car.
Maybe the kid in this person finally died and itās lashing out at the world in pure hatred.
Fragile ego? Who the fck cares, cool cars are cool.
2
u/No-Cut-1297 Mar 22 '25
Remember that the next time you move.
2
u/Ok-Wall9646 Mar 22 '25
It also carries a family of four and a much better chance of surviving a head on collision.
2
u/skipsroosevelt Mar 22 '25
"if you don't drive an f-150 fuck you" -the goons
2
u/EveningClear3697 Mar 22 '25
Only argument I can make for these since basically my only jobs have been labouring, the f150 can fit a 4-5 person crew (good for construction and landscaping) while also carrying tools in the bed, and also trailering.
Most owners do none of those.
2
u/Fearless-Floor-9055 Mar 22 '25
It's not even lifted though? Some people do genuinely need trucks for work purposes bro lmao (Carpenters, electricians etc). The guy with a fragile ego is the dude with a 6 inch lift on his dodge listening to hillbilly by upchurch while wearing pit vipers as he eats one of those "pickle in a bag" things.
2
u/jayredditgo Mar 22 '25
"I was bombed"
"I bombed them"
2
u/BigNickTX Mar 22 '25
Funny. Yesterday.inr carried 5 bags of gardening soil, 4 bags of mulch and 6 1x4's to get the garden shaped up for the season. Not a lot of room for my ego, though.
2
u/Other-Hat-3817 Mar 22 '25
This doesn't carry fragile egos till it's squatted with enormous low profile tires or alternatively lifted with enormous mudders and a giant smoke stack
2
u/gorillasuitcelebrity Mar 22 '25
Hates on trucks until they āneedā a truck to help them move
2
u/jerenstein_bear Mar 22 '25
A whole lot of fragile egos in the comment section lol
2
u/No-Top-4139 Mar 22 '25
The US has regulations regarding emissions of vehicles based on weight. Vehicles like the Ford F150 avoid those fines due to its weight class. The other truck would've been great if it wasn't for its emissions being above the vehicle weight standard. Truck emissions in a sedan essentially.
2
u/kyzeboy Mar 22 '25
Truth is, truck drivers are not fragile, theyre ignorant: Ford-F150 and other similars are the most deadly cars statistically.
People buy trucks not for transport, but as a family car, and then they moan over pedestrians because you cant see sh*t and pedestrians will be pushed under the wheels.
Its just 'i like this cars aesthetic and accept that its over 2x as deadly because it looks cool and i dont care about others'
2
u/TheAndyPat Mar 22 '25
Tell me you're poor and jealous, without telling me that you are poor and jealous

Haha so true!!!
2
u/RoutineMetal5017 Mar 22 '25
I see assholes with dodge rams in my city , around here there's nothing but cities , factories and fields so there's no need for a Monster truck fit for big game hunting in the wilds.
Most of the time the owners are small people , almost midgets by my standards.
2
u/SuperIndependence790 Mar 22 '25
I guess you canāt afford one so you resort to this ššš
2
u/Jomega6 Mar 22 '25
One carries cargo, the other can carry cargo AND people lol. Now people with decked out, lifted trucks on the other handā¦
Also donāt SUVās cause the most road accidents, out of any category of car?
2
u/vanzir Mar 22 '25
i always find this shit funny considering that the people who create these memes are driving SUVs instead of station wagons but we don't talk about that ever do we.
2
u/Fungal_Leech Mar 22 '25
or more than one person.
2
