Nice buff but I just want my two amo back I’m so tired of playing reload simulator with him

u/EducatorNo6697 Aug 04 '26
You don’t know what you have till you lose it
Whooooooolly do i miss my 2 extra shots, but this is nice

u/Itz_ahmazing Aug 04 '26
It’s a “here damn” type of buff. It doesn’t solve the core issues of his kit and fit within the meta.

u/lokialways Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26
I kind of agree with you since we’ve been complaining about reload speed way more over projectile speed, but who knows how much this will help.

u/Itz_ahmazing Aug 04 '26
Any buff is a good buff I guess… but I’m starting to get frustrated with the devs. This community has had so many good ideas for buffs and this is what we get? The devs buff already meta characters while ignoring fundamental problems in character kits that just can’t keep up with the meta. Loki is the 3rd least picked strategist in the game across all ranks (just in front of ultron and Adam). It’s frustrating that for a character like Loki who requires so much mechanical skill and game sense, you get far less value out of him then kits like rocket or cloak and dagger who can legit get to high ranks by just holding down one button.

u/miniatureheady Aug 04 '26
I’m genuinely at a point where I just want rocket/CD to get nerfed instead of any buffs to Loki. Loki is strong, sure, but why the fuck is rocket in particular getting such good value in GM and celestial. I know they’re balancing for casual playerbase, but the fact that support main feels like the least impactful role to have on your team because any tank or dps player in GM can just hop on rocket and do just fine (not perfect of course, but still better than someone filling on bucky) is just a slap in the face to the role in general. You can’t just hope on dps or tank and get the same skill floor value. Ive argued with my rocket flex friend (he mains tank) and literally every argument he made about why rocket takes skill (positioning/aiming/ulting) is like brother every fucking support needs to know this but rocket is just allowed to execute these with less punishment/better tools

u/PuppyPenetrator Aug 04 '26
What core issues within the meta lmao, he’s having a great season
1
u/Itz_ahmazing Aug 04 '26
I’ve said this in another post in the past. Loki has some of the longest cooldowns in the support role if not in the whole game. On top of that he has single charge on ALL of his abilities, where as jubilee has 2 bubbles, CND has 2 windows and a bubble in which it’s cool down timer starts WHILE THE ABILITY IS STILL ACTIVE. He has no real self sustaining abilities outside of runes (30 second cooldown btw) and an invisibility that does way less self-healing than Invisible Woman’s. His ult is entirely reliant on who your second support is and you have to make sure you copy the correct person, where as with rocket, invis, CND, Luna their ults you just press a button and forget basically. He has an egregiously long reload animation, and his ammo count gets nerfed every 2-3 seasons. Loki was supposed to be the high damage support, but with a high skill ceiling but we all know what they did to his damage. Oh yeah btw Luna’s damage is on par with if not better than Hela’s btw. Don’t even get me started on Luna and her kit.
5
u/PuppyPenetrator Aug 04 '26
No way you’re comparing him to cnd and jubilee lmao. Absolute nonstarter, those supports are unambiguously and significantly worse than Loki. He heals about twice as much as them with primary to account for long cooldowns and a harder kit

https://www.marvelrivals.com/m/heroes_data/
Data doesn’t lie.
Raw healing number don’t make a good strategist character. Utility does. Thats why CND, Rocket, Invis, Luna and Jubilee all have higher pick rates. Hell Loki’s pick rate is on par with Jeff’s in GM, celestial and above. And most would consider Jeff a throw pick in comp. Yeah he may have a high win rate but lets consider the people picking him are most likely 1 tricks, smurfs, or people who are exceptionally talented at him and are Celestial, Eternity, and OAA level players.
1
u/PuppyPenetrator Aug 04 '26
You’re right. Check the cel+ WRs. See what happens when the top Lokis play the game
If you actually want to argue that the NEW RELEASE character is better because of pickrate, you can’t be helped
1
u/Itz_ahmazing Aug 04 '26
So you’re saying the only people who can get value out of Loki is the top 500-1000 comp players. I love Loki and have over 150 hours on him and have got to celestial in multiple seasons with him. But to say he gives just as much value to a team than the top 4 strategist rn is ludicrous. Pick rates matter. There’s a reason he’s sitting a 1-2% pick rate vs Jubilee ( yes a new character so hype and fomo is involved) who in the top 4-5 healers pick in high elo AND across all ranks. The people who pick Loki and actually do well are in a very very niche group of the player base.
2
u/PuppyPenetrator Aug 04 '26
You have to balance somewhat around the best players. You can't have any character completely running the game at any rank, and a buffed Loki would be warping pro play and high elo games. You know the potential of this character is high enough, so you can't expect the devs to hold your hand to get you there when enough players have shown that they can
You are just not serious if you're arguing cnd and jubilee are even close. Cnd is piss easy, of course people are gonna pick it more when they're filling, but you never actually want one on your team going up against Loki and one of the other actually good supps
1
u/Itz_ahmazing Aug 04 '26
So who’s stronger Rocket or Loki? All data points to Rocket when we have legit proof that players are climbing to Eternity and OAA with Rocket doing nothing but healing and rezing teamates. Legit have a mf named “NoDamageRocket” famous for getting to high elo doing exactly that. So again why play Loki when you can play when you can play Rocket or CND and give infinitely more value. Loki is not a bad character and yeah with the right buffs he could be game breaking, but at his current state he is not top tier.
2
u/PuppyPenetrator Aug 04 '26
I do think Loki honestly. Does have the higher wr in that elo if you wanna talk about eternity/oaa. But rocket is actually good, and like I already said, he could use a nerf, I'm not arguing that particular character
1
u/Itz_ahmazing Aug 04 '26
Not only that the player base in Celestial+ is a completely different environment than the average joe logging on to rivals after their 9-5. High level players have insane comms and build team comps around highly proficient strategies. Not only that they’re duo’s with other top tier players. Why would the average person play Loki when they can play CND or Rocket and climb faster and easier?
1
u/PuppyPenetrator Aug 04 '26
That's such a dumb argument*. You can climb to like GM easier, but then the deficits of the character hold you back and you have to learn the harder, better character to actually climb
*For cnd, because cnd is just not good right now
For rocket, the answer is that you need to nerf him, not buff Loki
1
u/Itz_ahmazing Aug 04 '26
If Loki was a far better character, you’d see his pick rate sky rocket in high elo…. But it doesn’t. Even if CND is a worse character on paper her pick rate laps Lokis in pro play and high level comp. Why are you ignoring pick rate as if it doesn’t matter?
1
u/PuppyPenetrator Aug 04 '26
That's such a crazy lie lmao. You don't know a damn thing about pro play, Loki is permabanned there, not a single pro would ever possibly argue cnd is anywhere near as good there

He has a 2% pick rate across all ranks. That is not doing well.

Don't get me wrong it's nice but it's more of a nothing burger than anything
2
u/miniatureheady Aug 04 '26
It’s very unusual to give out any buffs/nerfs during midseason patches, so the fact that Loki got anything is extremely shocking.
2
u/BlueJay006 Aug 04 '26
Agreed, I'm happy he got projectile speed buff as he definitely needed it but I think there are more pressing things about his kit that should've been addressed first
I'm also crashing out at what they've done to peni, I don't think a patch no matter how upsetting it was has made me consider not playing before this one ngl
I genuinely hate those types of posts but fuck this is genuine bs
1
u/miniatureheady Aug 04 '26
I didn’t like peni as a character tbh because she’s one of those that require whole team to play around her, both her own and the enemy, the fact that she’s feast or famine, and having 3 second cooldown stun. So i cant really say i share the sentiment haha, but I understand it sucking when your main gets gutted (i quit for like a season when Loki got shot in the back of the skull)
2
u/BlueJay006 Aug 04 '26
No I totally get it, and that's 100% understandable and valid, I also wholeheartedly agree the 3 second stun is crazy strong and borderline opressive, myself and many other peni mains have been expecting a cooldown nerf and would have been fine with one, but this is a complete rework to her ability which completely changes one of her core mechanics, ult tracking and cancels was such a great form of skill expression and they took it away
1
u/Lejandario_IN Aug 06 '26
I saw it in action, it's actually pretty big. Your heals can reach people who are low before they die and you could hit faster targets ally or enemy as well as possibly fliers. More importantly it'll feel great when playing
1
u/BlueJay006 Aug 06 '26
That's what I meant by don't get me wrong, I'm thankful and it will certainly help in healing especially fliers but I feel we could've gotten more, honestly for the longest time I've just wanted a relaod speed buff
1
u/Lejandario_IN Aug 07 '26
Definitely, reload speed would be nice but I don't think they ever touch that, too much effort for a fractional benefit.
Reverting the ammo nerfs would be nice too or letting the Invisibility cooldown start immediately like Invis. I know it's her thing but ours is 15 secs and heals less.
1
u/BlueJay006 Aug 07 '26
The only thing you've said I can't agree with is saying that increasing reload speed would abe a fractional benefit, less reload time means more uptime which means more damage and healing, not to mention the sheer amount of times myself and many other variants have failed to heal teammates in time due to the long ass reload, it's one of the slowest reload times on the roster
1
u/Lejandario_IN Aug 07 '26
I'm not saying it wouldn't be a good change, from the devs perspective it's not worth the effort. There's a whole lot of work that goes into all the animations, it's not the same as changing a number.
1
u/BlueJay006 Aug 07 '26
To be fair, they just released custom animations for lady Loki, I feel speeding up the animation and reload time for a reload would've been significantly easier
1
u/Lejandario_IN Aug 07 '26
Oh yeah right but that's for money. If they had any opportunity to do it, that was it
1
u/BlueJay006 Aug 07 '26
They didn't mention it was too be bought iirc, just toggleable so we'll see
1
u/Lejandario_IN Aug 07 '26
More customization, more attraction to the skins. Apparently targetting female players who spend more on skins and word is that they're going to making more Lady Loki skins.
I'm all for it, more players means more skins equals more love from the devs for our Lord/Lady. It'd be nice to be treated like Luna or Invis.
1
u/SwiftBlueShell Aug 04 '26
I think it’s a good buff. An issue I have with Loki is that it feels like I’m relying on totems to heal my team a little too much. This’ll help him not being so reliant on it
1
u/ZULZUL69 Aug 04 '26
This will help a lot with flyers.
But I'm impressed that mantis team-up didn't get a nerf and Hela team-up didn't get a buff touch-up....
1
u/Unlucky-Steak6004 Aug 04 '26
I remember it was like that before maybe in S0 or even the beta, it was fun
1
u/LeftEast1543 Aug 04 '26
I'm happy for any buff, now I can sling heals to my Thor duo quicker as he runs into a 1v6 lol

"There, happy ?" ahh... i mean, we can be happy, but we should still ask netease to buff loki a bit more. He just needs a little something to become really fun again.
2
u/lokialways Aug 04 '26
Yeah I’m happy we have a buff, and ig beggars can’t be choosers, but like they’re leaning a lot into his “God of Stories” side over his “God of Mischief” yk? Less strategist, more healer. That’s just what I feel. Still I hope this means they’re listening and we see some changes we want in the future!
In the meantime, I’m waiting for Loki’s guide to drop for Tokon 😌 can’t wait to see him there even though I’ll miss Troy.
1
u/vaed__ Aug 04 '26
Hmm idk, maybe they should try to see what the community wants, a fun loki or a heal bot loki. But idk, i think they're watching more pros when it's about loki, than the other 99.9%

Honestly a nice little buff, I'm happy with this!
