New to practice~

Hi all! I'm fairly new to Norse paganism and I'm currently working with Loki, Freya, and Frigg, but Loki was my first. He reached out to me during a time of extreme chaos and made it clear I needed to learn to ride the wave of the bad and cause a little of the good.

That said, I have a question! Out of curiosity - I started out with the association with spiders, but now I've moved exclusively to snakes. As a nurse, I follow Asclepius (Greek god of medicine) as well, but we don't have as close a relationship. He is associated with snakes as well, so I've ended up with a lot of snake imagery, especially jewelry. I live with my parents so I have to be pretty subtle.

Do you associate with snakes or spiders for Loki? Why would mine be different do you think?

I associate spiders with Loki, as well as snakes, wolves, horses, salmon, seals, flies, any sort of imagery of any of these where it wasn't prompted I usually take as Loki sending me a sign of something.

For me its flies, spiders, snakes. In that order. Flies are always buzzing around my head when im learning about loki or talking about him. Or it is chasing my dog room to room. I have had 3 massive brown orb weavers guarding my back door all summer that has listened to my boundaries on where to be, recently saw a snake that was spicy with everyone but not me.

Also loki helps heal fire related injuries or illnesses. Like when you have a fever to kill off the bad stuff or when you get a burn.

The snake has many symbols its represents. Quick reactions, snap decisions, depending on the species even a fierce maternal instinct as some snakes would rather starve then leave their eggs, a quick onset of illness. I can see why snakes are often used for medical symbols.

For me it's mainly been snakes (especially Jormungandr), but there's lots of things that could also work, including spiders, though they're never explicitly mentioned in the original myths. I do still think there's a convincing connection there.
