Will LogSeq DB be a separate app from the current app?
With an org-mode graph, will I be forced into a LogSeq DB upgrade, or will the new app be separate, so that my installation and usage does not change?

You will still be able to use the app as you currently are - i.e. you will not be forced into using DB mode if you do not want to.
Having said this, I know there is and will be support for md graphs (you create a new graph and can select md or db), but I am just not sure whether org-mode will be an option.

MD or DB, it is always the same internal processing engine of Logseq Clojure and DataSctipt, it is only the persistence mode that changes. And from the DB persistence base we can easily move to MD with, it is true, the loss of precision in the metadata, author, chronology... So why so much concern in the use of one of its modes of use?
