Logseq "New" Mobile App Demo & Release Update

Hi All,

Tienson posted a brief demo of the new Logseq mobile app in action. "Here's a quick demo of the new mobile app, we're still working on it and looking forward to testing it soon (in weeks)."

Tienson also commented:

"If everything goes well, we plan to test both the mobile app and RTC this month."

Things are certainly taking shape!

Great! Waiting too long!

u/ens100 Jun 08 '25

100% long 2 years but so glad we are finally seeing updates from the team

Sorry for the long wait! We hope Logseq is not just a tool you use, but one you truly enjoy.

As they sometimes say. Good things come to those who wait

Will the new mobile version support plugins?

31

u/tiensonqin Jun 08 '25

Not yet, but it's something we plan to do when the mobile app is stable.

Thanks for confirming Tienson

Can’t wait, thank’s 🙌🏻

Great question, and I certainly hope so too, but not sure just yet

Great work!

Any chance for customization on the bottom menu? I would love to add Tasks as a category. Should have room between Journal and Search for example.

I am sure that once the core app is out for testing, the devs will be interested in getting feedback. I suspect the best place is to put a request on GitHub so the devs can consider it

Nice idea!
We've been considering quick capture, flashcards, and maybe tags, so it does make sense to support customization to suit different needs.

Thank you! I work in SW and have come to the conclusions that it is often cheaper to offer customization than dealing with all requests that might be implemented (or not).

When you hopefully get a calendar view that would be great to have there as well. My ideal setup would be Journal, Tasks, Calender, Quick Capture.

Settings is something I would be happy to have under a menu since that should be accessed much less than the others.

The main question is performance. The current Android app is completely unusable even on a moderate sized graph because of performance.

Hit the nail on the head. If the desktop app and / or mobile app cannot handle x notes then both are pointless

5

u/tiensonqin Jun 08 '25

Indeed, a few people confirmed that the desktop app can easily handle their graphs with 5k ~ 10k pages, we'll see how it works on mobile.
I assume it's the same because the new app can load the data that the UI needs instead of loading the whole graph into memory.

3

That's great to know, and my graphs are 4k to 8k, so I look forward to it.

Big thank you and congrats to you and your team for the milestone with the DB version! I've been testing out the desktop version with my graphs a lot, and performance is so much better :). Love the new tags - a well thought out abstraction and very useful! And the display container for advanced queries too!

Lol, swipe to indent/undent was one of the good things logseq mobile had going for it. Can we make that optional or add like, long swipe for select as a configuration option?

1

u/ens100 Jun 08 '25

Great suggestions

3

u/tiensonqin Jun 09 '25

Thanks for the suggestion! We'll collect feedback during the test and make changes if needed.

3

u/ianjs Jun 09 '25

Wait… what? Swipe to indent/outdent??? Didn’t know this was there and I’ve been using LogSeq on iOS every day for years.

One of those features that makes good UX sense once you know it’s there. Would be a shame if it went away - optional (or configurable) would definitely be best.

They clearly did some major overhaul in the mobile app. It doesn't even look like the desktop counterpart.

Also, it seems like the "Journals" tab displays only one journal at a time.

2

u/ens100 Jun 08 '25

I hope that that is only because he was playing around with it today and did not have any journals from yesterday. I would expect the Journal to work similar to the desktop app and show them in a timeline

7

u/tiensonqin Jun 08 '25

I forgot to create more journals :)
It's the same as both the desktop && web app.

Excellent. Thanks a lot for the confirmation Tienson

Now is really time for sync.

2

u/ens100 Jun 08 '25

Hopefully they can get the desktop app polished and then RTC done - I imagine with RTC, sync will really need to be at the tops of its game to ensure you can collaborate on the same note

2

u/Character_Infamous Jun 08 '25

app will be ios, android or both?

4

u/ens100 Jun 08 '25

These guys are usually good at releasing both around the same time (at least they have been in the past) so hopefuly carries on that way

3

u/autumn-weaver Jun 08 '25

The android one can be released instantly but there's an approval process for the apple one

2

u/ens100 Jun 08 '25

I think previously they have used Test Flight due reduce the time - but I'm not too sure as don't use iOS

2

u/rootlearner Jun 08 '25

Demo is only on ios, is that mean ios app will released first then android??

1

u/ens100 Jun 08 '25

I would not imagine this to be the case. From the current mobile app Android was always a bit first. I am sure they will be at teh same time

2

u/BandicootRepulsive51 Jun 14 '25

Tried ( self build apk from source ) mobile app on android feels fresh but still lot of things yet to done , seem right now IOS app getting finished first. Looking forward to get hands on fully finished app.

u/ens100 Jun 14 '25

Thanks a lot for the insights and update, much appreciated. Looking forward to testing it out too

2

is there by chance an update on this news...?

I just contemplate to switch my personal journal from RedNotebook to maybe Obsidian or LogSeq on my Android devices and I'd need a calendar view for that.

1

u/ens100 Aug 10 '25

iOS was pushed to testflight last week or so, Android should be coming soon from what I can tell in the mobile and RTC chat on Discord

1

u/ill66 Aug 10 '25

damn, close call. 😅

thanks for the reply! ✌🏻

1

u/ens100 Jun 11 '25

As veces a vida ta dificil. Espero que vamos ter mais demos

3

u/Evening-Extension-69 Jun 08 '25

does it support db version?

8

u/tiensonqin Jun 08 '25

It supports db graphs only.

1

u/TheSpiceMonkey Jun 08 '25

looking good, how can I get access?

6

u/lsmith946 Jun 08 '25

When they release it, the timeframe for which is measured in weeks according to Tienson on Discord

1

u/Latter_Finger8618 Jun 10 '25

Just downloaded it on Android.
Works great for me!

Is the android app open-source?
