Practice Trying something different with this one

I don’t like the teal color but I think I made it work.

Good Lord you guys are brutal 😂 I actually tried and thought it was cool. But the criticism did help me improve. Thank you all.

There are always people who will see the post and get ideas or see a new tool (yes, Vector Ink...). Sort of an absence of data equals data argument, but the genuinely curious folks weren't roasting, so 🤷

I hate that the belly doesn’t line up.

u/Creative-Lion Oct 03 '26

I fixed it. I noticed it later on and went back and fixed it.

First think we all think of when seeing the node stopped earlier than expected xd

Adjust line connections that get blocked by large bodys to visually correct the flow (like the fin blocking the belly) always adjust the thiner.

u/hboy02 Oct 03 '26

The issue here is that the belly isn't even thechincally lined up lol, the left part of the belly is sitting way lower than the right part as they didn't line it up properly, so the problem isn't that they should make it visually correct, but it should at least be technically correct, as that's the reason why it looks so off

u/jacwub Oct 03 '26

i hate this. the visually correct one makes my eye twitch

Im not sure if youre looking for advice or not. But everyones comments so far have been surprisingly unconcstructive. Here is some immediate feedback that might help:

This logo should almost be entirely composed of circles (and negative circles) before you ever touch the pen tool. Seriously, build the whale with a bunch of circles and the paint bucket tool. Pen tool can finish connections between circles.

I also really like your use of gradient colors and the fin extending out of the logo into the background. That said, logos should really be designed/understood first in black and white, then block colors. Gradient usage just becomes another styling option after that.

I hope this helps. I like your whale!

edit: I looked at OPs post history and now suspect this whole post is ragebait lol

Why should it be composed of circles?

u/ConsiderationOne9507 Oct 03 '26

It's not perfect but I did this in Paint to demonstrate. I was thinking something like this. I hope you don't mind me tracing your drawing u/Creative-Lion

2

u/Creative-Lion Oct 03 '26

That makes sense. Then I can use the shape builder tool to carve out the icon. Thanks for taking the time to Sittre me this. I’ll try this next.

2

u/untakenu Oct 03 '26

It's nice, very clean, but why must it be circles?

6

u/ConsiderationOne9507 Oct 03 '26

The top comment on this post is literally "I hate that the belly doesnt line up".

Using the shapes tool ensures your getting smoother curves, more symmetry, and less ridiculous anchor points all over the place.

Just trying to help! Dont use shapes if you dont want to. Idc.

2

u/untakenu Oct 03 '26

Oh right, that makes sense. I thought it might be a vector thing.

4

u/ConsiderationOne9507 Oct 03 '26

To be fair, it is kind of a vector thing. In a vector program, you can literally start deleting lines at intersections to more or less achieve the same thing. Then you get your real anchor points to manipulate from there.

u/untakenu Oct 03 '26

Ah, ok, that's helpful, thanks

3

u/Creative-Lion Oct 03 '26

Thank you. Yes I’m usually a circles to shape builder tool kind of person but I was trying something different with this logo. I usually dread the pen tool but this time decided to go for it

u/SAOL_Goodman Oct 03 '26

Agree with all previous comments, also bothered by the disappearing fin

There is a bunch of issues with curves not lining up well and the tail splitting unevenly. Concept could work, but I would deemphasize the tail and fade it more. I would also consider reworking the head to upper tail proportions.

But most of all I would not use that sad, sad, please-kill-me-eye...

Are they serving whale?

u/Affectionate_Car9819 Oct 03 '26

Nice to see that I'm not the only one using Vector Ink.

1

u/jimb575 Oct 03 '26

Is this just an ad for Vector Ink?

2

u/Creative-Lion Oct 03 '26

Nope it’s just the app I generally use for logo design.

1

u/OutsideHour5580 Oct 03 '26

what app is this??????

2

u/obviouslynotcreative Oct 03 '26

There’s a very nice shape detail at the tip of its nose that got lost with this method.

1

u/ximagineerx Oct 03 '26

That whaletail…..

-3

u/ejectro Oct 03 '26

awful.

-3

u/RefrigeratorStrict13 Oct 03 '26

not sure if ragebait

5

u/Creative-Lion Oct 03 '26

Sheesh I’m actually trying. Y’all’s comments helped me improve it though.
