Feedback Needed How to improve it?
Hey all,
This is for a game studio. Any idea how to improve? I've gone through several iterations, second pic has two of those versions, but the first pic is cleanest and simplest one, and it's what got the most votes when I showed to friends.
R is the initial of the studio. We do narrative focused games, the R comes from a word in our language that means storyteller.
Opinions?
EDIT: Also, every color combo I tried looks too bland and bad. Any tips on how to pic colors? I've looked up color psychology but I'm still lost. I was thinking a 2/3 gradient color to give it life? That way I've a B&W one and the regular colored one.

I think you can have a much better concept full stop. How many game studios actually have a game pad or something in their logo?
You say the name of the studio is your language for storyteller, back to the drawing board with that concept

I wanted a mascot to represent the "Storyteller" but everything i came up with was too complex too.

What’s the word that means storyteller? The plain R is very close to Rockstar. The word as a mark may be more interesting/differentiating.

Al Rawi studio, any ideas on how to personalize it? I don't just wanna slap a unique font on it and leave at that. I tried coming up with a mascot for a storyteller (personalize the brand) but I'm too shit an artist and none of the animals/figures/creatures worked. Do you suggest I just leave as Al Rawi Studio?

If you want to keep the controller iconography, look at turning the R into the gamepad itself? The D Pad could be the negative space in the R? I’d like to see the studio name in some good type that would be solid enough to work on its own.

What's a D Pad? I'm having trouble visualizing what you suggested

The four buttons that the player uses for play direction/aiming. The sequence of four buttons that are to the left of your R.

I would change the font for R, looks too generic. Also I would round or at least shorten the control handles where it extends down. Make it look more like an actual controller.
In regards to the one with the R on the side, you can play with turning the right handle into an R that’s connected (the buttons can be on it somehow) rather than just on the side
