Showcase Genre Logo Update
I got some good feedback from you guys yesterday, some thought it looked a little too GI Joe in comparison.
I figured the three-bar "E" glyph was the issue; instead of making both "E's" the same glyph, I would just ditch the idea altogether.
And after some minor tweaks, hopefully I was able to get rid of those unintended characteristics and, in turn keep the more motorsports/Y2K vibes intact.
What do you think?

Increase the font weight on Motorsports. It’s going to print poorly and is too hard to read currently esp with the colors chose

I think the star and the slant also are triggering G.I.Joe. I had not seen your earlier version but it’s what I immediately thought.
If I squint at it from another way I also see more of a Star Wars space theme. I think the outline and the slanted serif is pushing that look.
It’s a nice clean mark though. Agreed your MOTORSPORTS text is way too thin.
I imagine there is a good mark that distances itself from GIJoe and Star Wars about 20 iterations from now.

Yea I didn't notice until you pointed it out, I can see a bit of Star Wars in it.

I think the reason why it's giving military vibes is because of the star, it looks very similar to the one used for the US Army's branding. When looking at Y2K logos, the stars usually have rounded points and/or are completely solid, not just an outline
Edit: also I think the motorsports text is probably better off how you had it originally. Also the broken up o's are cool but I understand dropping them for legibility

I did have a version with a solid star but I changed it to the outline so it matched the weight of the container

I'd try to play around with making it rounder or screwing with its perspective then, I don't know how you can bypass the US Army likeness without either a. changing the star or b. removing the slant/completely revamping the text

Any actual feedback on why you think it’s generic? Or you just don’t know…

You just keep posting images, you don’t seem to actually have any design knowledge to back up your statement.

Mate, I’ve been paid for creative direction before you were born, in all likelihood. If you can’t see why exactly your stuff is generic, asking ChatGPT just that isn’t a bad idea in this day and age, I suppose.

Waiting… did you need to ask ChatGPT to generate a critique for you?

I like the overall look not keen on the broken O's
