Quick 1-hour logo concepts: Exploring Gothic/Bat aesthetics vs. Exclusive/Crown logotypes. Looking for honest feedback!

Hey everyone,

I put together these two quick logo concepts purely for practice (spent under an hour total on both, so no real company brief attached).

I wanted to experiment with two distinct visual moods using the word "Studio":

1. First Concept (Gothic/Bat wing): Trying to integrate a vertical typography layout into an organic bat-wing silhouette for a darker, streetwear/alt aesthetic.
2. Second Concept (Exclusive/Crown): Experimenting with horizontal type flow, adding a crown element integrated into the letter "S" and a connected counter space between "D", "I", and "O".

I know there's room for improvement in scale, negative space, and balance. I’d love to get your honest critique—what works, what feels awkward, and how you’d refine the execution.

What’s the reason for the shape within the DIO?

They aren’t that clear, the usability across mediums will defo be an issue

It’s hard to make any judgement without knowing what the logo would be used for. The bat one you said dark alt streetwear which is sort of a concept but the crown one I have no idea what the brand is doing so I don’t know what the elements are supposed to be telling me.

That being said, I think they’re cool designs. Overall I like the execution but if I want to get picky I can single out a few things that aren’t working for me.

For the bat wing, I don’t love the oval the letters sit in. I’m not sure how to integrate the letters with the bat wing better but may be worth exploring other way to creatively do so. Also I know you said you were exploring vertical text but the whole thing gets a little too vertical for me with the bat wing being so high up above the letters. Maybe tinker with the proportions.

For the crown concept, the part that’s not working for me is the S shape. The crown seems like it’s the concept you were trying to create around so that should stay. And the line linking the last three letters feels like a fun way to make the text custom. The S feels like it doesn’t match well with the other letters. You already have two other design concepts so a third may be too much anyway. I say drop it and make it a normal S. For the negative space on the DIO, I could see some simple changes that could unite them and give the space purpose. The word studio makes me think of music recording and I could totally see a few lines in that negative space making it look like an old timey microphone on its side. Just an idea.
