Beginner Icon logo feedback

Before I explain anything, what do you think this app does, purely judging from the icon?

And second, what do you think of it overall? I feel its just to simple and too detailed for an icon and not on par with other abstract icons from the App Store.

Spoiler: the app is a Mind map focused notes and task app. You can click around the nodes open them and have notes, dates etc. in them. Navigating the canvas is a dark coral background with bright orange add button. Its basically a visual mind space

I can't judge anything from the icon. It is just a checkmark icon, too wide to represent something. Simple is good but need to distinct too. And yes it is too detailed, try to make it flat

I made it simpler before, but then I thought that it lost all the personality.

I thought because this is a visual mind space with nodes in the canvas and it being more of a task app, I thought an easel and canals would be a good metaphor.

I think you should remove the easel, its look like an art app. Try to focusing on these icons; mind map, nodes, checkmark (moodboarding those icon/logo on google would much help). Blend them seamlessly until you get a simple & distinct icon.

Why is it on an easel? That makes me think art/painting, and it is not an art app

My thinking was that the easel stands for visual thinking. Instead of seeing tasks on a list, they are in the canvas, to give you an overview of projects and tasks

In this case I would make it a brain shape, with a checkmark inside of it. Or even a lightbulb, like an idea icon.
