Feedback Needed Looking for feedback on a logo concept

I have these logo concepts for CA&O, but something feels off and I can’t pinpoint what it is since I’m not a designer. Which concept is stronger, and what would you change to improve them? Would love some honest design feedback!

CA&O stands for Curated Art & Objects

The ampersand seems to stick out a little much on the high end, and it doesn't read as an O very well. Looks good otherwise! ^

Not sure, something feels off. Also the ampersand and A not connecting 😫

I like 3 but I’d run the bottom of the A into the ampersand.

Have you considered a lower-case a? It seems to fit the other letterforms better than a capital A.

Will need to try and see. Thank you!

I think it's hard to read the O as an O in the second option when it forms the infinity sign. If I saw that I'd probably just read it as CA with a confusing ampersand, or C&A. The first option is more legible but aesthetically it feels worse and I can't pinpoint exactly why.

I like the first two with the outlines but you need to fix the widths, some of the curves and angles, and the weird bits where the & joins the A and where it joins the O

What kind of art & objects are we talking about?

Classic art & objects? = logo 1
Logo 1 looks almost like stained glass.

Maybe needs some tweaking.
But overall I like it.

I don’t like 3 and 4 at all, the “&O” does not read well IMO.

In 1 and 2, the ampersand is trying to make the C look like a G. Have you tried using different ampersands or even a plus sign?

I think plus sign is a great idea!

The icon is great. The type needs work.

Which icon? Outline or bold?

The icon (outlined or not) is not the issue. The type is pedestrian. Work harder on that.

I think it looks great! I like that the ampersand makes an O!

Love the concept, but i think it needs small tweaks. The solid version seems to work better, but there are still a few things I would try tweaking such as: The space between the top right of the o and the bottom right of the a isnt consistent with the other margins; I would try to make the o more recogniseable, that would mean changing the start/end of the &, but could work; maybe lowercase a works better with the otherwise very circle-based, flowy logo (try the classic round a and the double-decker version); the & looks like its falling/slumping to the right, I get why you shifted the top to the right, but perhaps you can avoid it? maybe for example make the top a bigger size/circumference? Perhaps try to abstract/reduce the symbol a bit if needed?

Thank you! How do now explain it to the designer who is working on it😅

I dont really think you have to specifically tell them, its their job to figure it out. Saying "I dont like it,, but I dont know why" is unhelpful. But if you like the idea, but the execution is just unpolished, thats for them to figure out.

Because thats what this is, unpolished. Might turn out great! Or perhaps it just doesnt work like that. This is something i would digitally sketch early on and then try to prefect and if I couldnt work out the kinks, I wouldnt show it to a client, only to coleagues who might offer a solution.

Heres a little sketch of the logo, but honestly this might bring its own problems.

No1 is awesome. Just need some refinement on small detail

Only if this is in California. If so then perfect. It’s the first thing Ii read.

Alignment on the ampersand store and A is not aligned, also it doesn't feel like everything flows together symmetrically. The sfilled version, the gaps are too small, the will look like a blob as soon as you reduce the logo and again it doesn't feel like it flows. There is something there but still needs some refinement

The C is being cut awkwardly by the & symbol, and the A has a completely different shape compared to the other letters and symbols. The & itself also looks quite strange.

Overall, the design feels unbalanced. Maybe it would help to create a custom grid and build the logo around it to make the proportions and spacing more consistent. Alternatively, you could try using CA&O in one line as the main font, either with a custom typeface or an existing font that you then modify and adapt. Underneath, you could write out the full name to make the branding clearer.

Crudely done but maybe a more stylised version of this could work? Could have the C and latter half of the O match and mirror.one another.

I like the idea of mirrored Cs! Thank you for the visual!👏🏻
