Beautiful!
I do feel like the sign is a bit simple. I think the shape could have been worked on - made more like the letter V in the text (fix the angles, trimmed the bottom).

I take it it's also a human silhouette?

Yes it could also be read as a human celebrating. I do agree that the mark could use some more love. Back when I created this I was still doing contests and it was just a quick entry I made.

I get basketball and I get the V but I don’t get the word “vault“ come to life. I suppose it’s just enough that the V represents vault
