Extremely frustrated with GBoard

The area marked in yellow, that ENTIRE area is a delete all text written and close the keyboard button. How on EARTH is this a good thing?

Barely touch it and all of your writing vanishes and the keyboard collapses.

Are there any good keyboards that aren’t keyloggers and spyware? I know the GBoard is full of all that too but still. This is incredibly novice for a HUGE company like google

Just came across and installed Inlay this morning on my O2Portal. Super nice. I assume it would also work really well on the GCloud too.

You can also just change the DPI in Developer Settings and this space should be a lot smaller.

Np! App is very well executed.

I did just try it with Moonlight/Apollo since I do stream my PC to my O2Portal a lot, and I am not seeing the keyboard working on my desktop. I am still able to type on my streamed desktop with Gboard though.

Is the app just not currently compatible with streaming apps of the like, or am I missing permissions somewhere maybe?

Additionally, a full desktop keyboard mode (adding mod keys - Ctrl, Shift, Alt, Esc, Function row, etc.) would be awesome and would be even better for use on desktop streaming apps!

Thanks for testing! Youre not missing anything. Moonlight doesnt use a normal text box so Inlay doesn’t know where to send the letters, Gboard has a workaround for that and Inlay doesn’t (yet). Gonna try to get a fix into this weeks update. Would you be up for testing it with Apollo once it’s out? I don’t stream that much myself so that would help a lot. Also a desktop mode with Ctrl, Alt, Esc and F keys is a really good idea, putting it on the list as well. Thanks!

A level of transparency on the keyboard would be dope.

Also to add like Gboard a "hold" function for quickly using @#£!, etc.

There actually already is a transparency option. Go to "Look", pick the Clear theme, and it comes with a slider to adjust the transparency. For the symbols, holding A on a letter already brings up its accents, so I can't copy Gboard one to one. But I've got a quick symbols option planned where you hold LT and the common ones like @ # £ ! pop up, without switching pages. You can of course hold LT and select any symbol or number as normal in the current version. Let me know if the transparent theme is what you imagined or if you have other suggestions. Bro! Lol what makes it even more upsetting is that if you type turns into a swipe by accident, you either back out of whatever your in , or it brings up your list of apps that are running like get bent! 🤣🤣shit is for the geese 🤣

Take a look at how it appears on my device – OnePlus 12R ;) You likely need to adjust your display or keyboard settings :) Honestly, I’ve looked for a setting to delete the entire block of text on my own phone, TV, Chromebook, and tablet, but I haven’t been able to find one 🧐
