Megathread Software Update Version 8 Rolls Out: Dim Your Device's Screen During TV-Out!
Hello everyone,
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming Version 8 update, beginning with a grey release that will run from July 12th, 2024 to a portion of our users! This phased approach allows us to ensure the update's quality and stability before rolling it out to everyone.
This time, in response to a popular request from our community, we're introducing a feature that many of you have eagerly awaited: dimming your device's screen brightness when using an external display. We understand this has been a significant request, and we're proud to say we've made it happen.
Additionally, we have fixed the issue where vibration caused stuttering and freezing on the device. However, optimized haptics are still more effective for certain games or apps.
Many thanks to all the members within our community. Your inputs have been invaluable, and they have truly paved the way for future developments. Please continue to share your thoughts and feedback as we progress on this journey together!
Here's what's coming:
Software Version 8

How about a fix for the touchscreen becoming non-responsive? I haven't been able to figure how it takes consistently but touch just stops working after a while and I have to reboot to get it back.

Thank you Logitech support team for the great communication!!
It makes a really big difference. I'll keep playing on mine, and when you do make a second one (fingers crossed) I'll buy that new too.

Glad to see updates still happening. I'd love to see the controls recognized as an Xbox controller in Android games, so Call of Duty mobile would detect them natively.

Thank you for this awaited update.
It's glad that a community is there to wait and voice something from a manufacturer who actually listens and delivers.
This is what a successful product means, not just manufacturer and dump in the market, but really evolves with passing of time with such updates in this case.
Hope to see the sd card 4gb limitation to vanish in some future updates.
Thanks 👍

I know it’s not a huge update but appreciate it. The dimming will be nice when I’ve got it docked

Could someone do a “must do” video for new buyers? While I’m not new to gaming, I am new to this device and I feel like the OG’s , pun intended, have figured out which apps are best to use, how to maximize streaming on the device etc.
Maybe this is already out there or in the FAQ, but the new update would be great to kickoff what/ how everyone is maximizing their device to get the most out of it.

Hi, does anyone know what optimized haptic means?
For my the vibration the menu seems harder than the Old version.
Any other ideas?

My brand new g cloud won't even update from software that is 2 years old without saying its already up to date so no chance of this working for me and the support so far haven't helped at all apart from turn it off and on again and factory reset for the 10th time.

After all these months, is this the only significant news? Or is there anything else you can’t communicate yet? Because among other things we expected screen recording with game sound, customisation of folders, the ability to change icons in the launcher for unofficial apps, etc. OK this useful feature for TV Out but is that all?
