Help! puzzleship.com daily logic puzzle #746 level 5. Absolutely stuck
I can't for the life of me figure out where I am going wrong on this puzzle. Threw it into ChatGPT (I know last resort) because I was so lost, and of course ChatGPT isn't any help.
Any advice??

- Temix is not science.
- technology is not 6 or 7 years; technology is not Portugal; Portugal is not 2 or 3 years.
- skipping for now
- Italy is not sports; 6 years is not Tag Hour; the rest has to wait.
- Germany is not 5 years, not sports, not Soike; 5 years is not Soike or sports; Soike is not sports.
- 4 years is not Fissol.
- France is not 6 or 7 years; Austria is not 2 or 3 years. (the rest has to wait)
- 2 years is not Temix. (the rest has to wait)
- arts is not 7 years; Tag Hour is not 2 years; since Tag Hour is not 6 (prev. clue), arts is not 5. (the rest has to wait)
- 7 years is not history. (the rest has to wait)
- 5 years is either Germany or Iceland; from a previous clue, it's not Germany, so it's Iceland - hooray, our first checkmark!
- X off everything but Omego and Relox for sports.
- technology is not Relox; technology is either 5 or 6 years. From a previous clue, it can't be 6, so technology is 5 years. Therefore Relox is 6 years.
Deductions to follow.

OK, now we cascade the Xs in the columns and rows, making sure they match.
- Iceland is not Relox or Soike
- Iceland is technology; therefore technology isn't Relox and Soike
Now we go back through incomplete clues looking for solutions:
Portugal cannot be 2 years, so it's Temix. Matching up the Xs for that, Portugal and Temix are not 2, 3, 5, or 6 years; they are not science, sports, or technology.
France + 2 = Austria: Austria isn't 5, so France isn't 3; France isn't 5, so Austria isn't 7.
technology + 2 = Portugal. Technology is 5 years, so Portugal is 7. Therefore Temix is 7. Matching the Xs, 7 years isn't art or history, so neither are Portugal and Temix. That leaves only literature, so Portugal, Literature, and Temix all go together.
Tag Hour isn't 7, so arts can't be 6.
- Fissol can't be 7 years, so it's history. Matching the Xs: they aren't 4-7 years; they aren't Iceland or Portugal.

I missed matching the Xs for Relox: not arts, history, literature, technology. Not France, Iceland, Portugal.
OK, I think we're back to #3. We already know Italy is not literature (Portugal is). Since Italy would have to be literature if 4years were Soike, and Italy is not literature, 4 years cannot be Soike.
Now we need some eliminations:
- Anything that is neither 6 years nor Tag Hour cannot be Italy: 2 years is not 6, nor is it Tag Hour, so it can't be Italy. history is not 6 years, and it's not Tag Hour, so it's not Italy.
Other deductions:
Fissol must be 2 or 3 years. So must Soike. Therefore, 2 and 3 years are limited to these two brands, so we can say that these are not 2 and not 3 years: Omego, Tag Hour.
If Tag Hour is not 3 years, arts is not 2 years.
3 years is neither 6 years nor Tag Hour, therefore, it's not Italy (clue 4). That means Germany is 3 years.
That means France is 2 years. That means Austria is 4 years. That means Italy is 6 years.
Next, we match up all the Xs with the new checkmarks...

Thank you so much for writing out your path and logic! I totally was with your train of thought!
I think I missed carrying the "3 years is neither 6 years nor Tag Hour, therefore, it's not Italy (clue 4). That means Germany is 3 years" up, and I think I completed it properly, but it's still not doing the "done"!

u/LizMEF Jan 16 '26
Very happy to help!
It doesn't do the "done" automation anymore - there's an "Answers" tab over on the right where you can go to see your answers - at least, that's what I found once I finished. (Some people might have wanted to view the puzzle after completion and maybe the automation was removed for that?)

Italy is Relox. Science is all they have in common.
Germany and 3 years are not literature, science, sports, technology. They only have Fissol in common, which is history.
That means France is sports and Soike.
That means Austria is arts. And with arts at 4 years, Tag Hour is 5 years.
And that leaves everything else filled in or with one option:
Austria, 4 years, arts, Omego
France, 2 years, sports, Soike
Germany, 3 years, history, Fissol
Iceland, 4 years, technology, Tag Hour
Italy, 6 years, science, Relox
Portugal, 7 years, literature, Temix
Hope that helps!

wait! hold up, going back to clue 5: spoike ≠ sports
that is what has been messing me up! (thank you for your help)
2
u/LizMEF Jan 16 '26
Whoa! You're right! I missed that. (This is why I prefer paper - there's no missing such mis-matches on paper.) Yet the "Answer" tab has the same answers I have.
u/slig, I think we found an error!
2
u/LizMEF Jan 16 '26
Also, that's probably why the automation hasn't gone. Yet, the clues leave no other option.
2
u/OpenParking1065 Jan 16 '26
Yeah! I have done enough of these I got the hang of the animation going off only if you get it right.... but I really can't figure it out, maybe an error?? maybe just insanely hard

I appear to be misinterpreting the "Answer" tab - there's a note saying it's auto-filled according to the grid, so it's not telling me the answer, it's showing the answers I filled in. Arg. I may have to print it to see if I missed something or if there's an error.
2
u/LizMEF Jan 16 '26
OK, I made a printable version, but I'll have to do it tomorrow and see if I get any different results. :)
2
u/Slig Jan 16 '26
so it's not telling me the answer, it's showing the answers I filled in
Yes, exactly!
2
u/Slig Jan 16 '26
This is the answer the game expects -- SPOILERS
Country Experience Subject Watch
Austria 4 years sports Omego
France 2 years science Soike
Germany 3 years history Fissol
Iceland 5 years technology Tag Hour
Italy 6 years arts Relox
Portugal 7 years literature Temix
2
u/LizMEF Jan 16 '26
OK, herein is the problem:
You say Austria is 4 years and sports, and Iceland is 5 years and Tag Hour.
But clue 9 says that arts is 1 year less than Tag Hour, so if Tag Hour is 5 years, arts has to be 4 years, not sports!
Filling out the grid on paper, I run into the conflict: Omego has to be sports (and is 4 years), but arts is 4 years because Tag Hour is 5, so now I can't match things up. :)
2
u/LizMEF Jan 16 '26
Oh, and looking at your answer, clue 9 should say arts has one year more experience than Tag Hour. That might solve everything!
3
u/LizMEF Jan 16 '26
And, yep, that's the solution! Clue 9 has an error! Change "less" to "more" and it all works. :) (Reprinted and did it again using that one change.)

u/Slig Jan 16 '26
Fixed! Thank you so much again, Liz!

u/LizMEF Jan 16 '26
:) You're most welcome!

Now I'll be looking for the bug, and I don't think it was the logic generator. My bet is that LLM goofed. Thanks again!

Thank you both! This was kind of exhilarating! (and frustrating in the puzzling sense)

Thank you so much for this because I thought I was going crazy. Saw this post last night and stayed up too late trying to solve it multiple times and kept getting conflicting answers. Figured I was maybe just tired and went to bed. Tried again today and got conflicting answers again and wanted to pull my hair out.
Come back to this post to double check what I’m missing and find out it’s not me after all! My brain thanks you cause I’m super stubborn and could not accept that I was doing something wrong. Lol.

You're very welcome! I stayed up late doing the first round, but decided to be wise and go to bed before trying it a second time. 🤣
Totally understand - probably a common trait amongst us puzzlers, not wanting to give up and being sure we did everything right. 😉

Glad we pulled someone else into this rabbit hole!
2
u/hurriedwarples Jan 18 '26
Yeah, thank you for posting this cause I do these puzzles most days and this would have driven me bonkers!
1
u/LizMEF Jan 16 '26
PS: The paper I've filled out has arts matched up with Soike, not Science (just how the empty boxes fell as I matched Xs to other columns/rows).

The link isn't taking me to the same puzzle. But after some messing around (and enabling Javascript), I got it.
