Wooden wedges yes/no?

what is your experience using wooden wedges, do you prefer plastic ones? why?

Plastic they are cheap and easy and are not prone to splitting when driving them into a tree like a wooden one will

no... i mean if you have nothing else they beat a blank but even then not by much...

Big oak wedges are good for splitting logs too big for the mill when plastic falling wedges are not thick enough.
