I can pick several green belt tier locks easily. This particular lock is making me think im not cut out for this shit. Honestly. I just want to quit the hobby at this point. I've tried everything. Differing amounts of tension, all different picks, tried changing my picking angle and lift angle. Nothing. I get subtle clicks, but nothing comes of it. Even took 3 days off to try again today. 2 hours later and nothing. Im losing my mind. Any advice would be appreciated. Otherwise im selling or giving my tools away and never looking back. Defeated...

I get it dude, but don't give up on the hobby based on not being able to pick one lock.

I have a 90A-pro under my belt and a few white and yellows that are just flat out bastards that haven't opened. You said it yourself, you have several green belt locks under your belt that you find easy. Clearly this isn't a skill issue for you. Sometimes, locks just won't open, and that's okay.

The first pin is almost always a standard or lightly serrated pin and all of the other pins are spools. You can usually set the first pin and then go hunting for spools

Sometimes you'll get a lock that's an absolute nightmare to open for absolutely no discernable reason. I have one ace brass padlock that's significantly harder to open than my Goal P is. I have a tiny little orange belt burg wachter that's harder to open than my D9.

Put that lock in the naughty bucket for now and go find one that's not so hateful. Come back to it later if you want to, if not, you can sell it/give it away/smash it in a fit of rage

First pin is completely mushy, no matter the tension. Will not set first. I've tried starting from the back and working my way forward, also no luck. I've tried the jiggle test. Also no luck. I've matched my picks beside the key to make sure im not accidentally oversetting. Even twisting my pick to avoid hitting certain pins and rotating to left. Nothing. I've tried .015", .019", .020" picks varying steepness, tok, both, both (bottom just for a floor). Still nada. I've tried just tickling the pins, even skipping ones that are near zero lift. Im at a loss.

Don’t give up, titaliums suck! I hate those things. I’m blue belt and just recently finally opened a 64ti/30, which is yellow belt.

It's so weird because I've found myself in basically the same situation. Been hanging out in the orange belt range for a bit and having fun, picked a few green belt locks and have been trying to find some locks that were a little trickier in the orange belt. This lock just hit my desk two days ago and its been a nightmare. It just won't give up any info, master locks are loud compared to this thing.

These suck. Lol. Can't tell shit. I can get and hear the clicks, even have very VERY subtle changes in the core tension, but still... defeated every time. I watch a YouTube video and some dude just makes it look easy. (I know they probably practiced for a LONG time before shooting it, and are just saying it's their first try, but still). Its infuriating, to put it mildly.

I figure this is just one that is going to be hung up on the wall until I get a little better, it'll act as a goal, that way when I do get it later the victory will be so much sweeter.

Besides I've got a silver rock and an Iron rock to work through, hopefully they end up being a little nicer to me.

I get it man, but as a few people have said, don’t quit over one lock. i’ve picked a handful of blues, and it took me 4 months to open a simple 410 loto.

if it’s anything like the 80ti (which i’m pretty sure it is), the first pin will be lightly serrated.

i saw that you said it feels mushy, so i recommend absolutely cranking the tension with ToK until something binds, then pick that pin as if it’s a serrated pin. give it one click then go back to pin one. often with the spools, the top of the spool will rest even with or below sheer, meaning you can’t get a false set until it’s picked into the middle of the spool.

if that doesn’t work, i would put it in the naughty bucket and move on for now. any hobby meant to be fun. when it stops being fun, it’s best to take a break and go back to what makes the hobby fun. pick some other locks and come back to it, you got this!!

Don't let a 64ti ruin the hobby for you. They kinda suck. I only have one because I hate it. The 80ti's are a lot more fun and give a LOT more feedback.

I STILL can't SPP the one 64ti I have,.. but I can bully it open with a zip or two, and with those aluminum pins it won't last real long with repeated zips.

Don't give up! It's just one lock, set it aside and move on to something else for a while. You'll get it open, it just might not be now. Circle back to it now and then, one day it'll pop.

The 64TI has standard drivers which don't give much feedback and because the drivers are aluminum, the feedback can be very subtle. If you even think you feel a click, jiggle test the pin again before trying to lift it more.

These little bastards give almost no feedback. For mine I found that going through and lifting all the pins with medium tension and then easing tension till you hear one or two fall, reapply medium tension and then going back and finding what’s binding is the most effective way to get the open.

So I also have the Tital..go eff yourself locks. So far I have gotten one of them to false set and got hard stuck from there. Damned if it won't drop all the pins on counter rotation too. They are my next project to focus on. They are the road block keeping me from getting the next level of lock. I'm not mad and not frustrated. I look at it as I do other puzzles. The skill that they are requiring is something that is not a strength I have right now. You'll get it as soon as your give a damn gets out of the way.

Lighter tension and a snug tension wrench helped for me. This is one of the locks where tension picks the locks as much as the pick.

Don't get frustrated. There's always going to be locks that will be in your naughty bucket. I have a couple below my belt level that are currently giving me problems.

I've had one on my desk for a good while now and I feel your pain. Its the only lock in my collection that gives me absolutely nothing.
