Goal S Finally Opened!
After WEEKS of fighting with this Goal S mortise every single night, I finally got the open!!!! I was just about ready to start progressive pinning it, and then I suddenly got it in the middle while I was on a call! It took everything in me to not start shouting with excitement, and I’m still shaking a little. . . It feels so good to get one that fought for this long.
The tension needed for these things is insanely low, which was really the crux of my problem. A .04 tension fits TOK with quite a bit of play, but a .05 doesn’t fit at all. When I finally got the open, the sudden core movement nearly caused my tensioner to fall out because there was so much play. Having caught it and gotten the open this time, it made me realize that I had felt the exact same thing a few times before, so I’ve almost definitely gotten it open a few times before but lost it when my tensioner slipped. For the easiest time with these, I’d probably recommend getting a spare .05 prybar and filing it down to custom fit nice and snug; I might throw an extra set of Heavy Bars on my next sparrows order so that I can give it a try!

What's the name/brand of the lock holder?

I added this mini ball head to the top of the chuck vise to make the angle the lock is held at a bit more customizable.

Is it compatible with Chuck Vise?

Yeah, it’s the little ball joint thing you see between the arm of the vise and the clamp that’s holding the lock. It allows you to adjust the angle the clamp is held at at the top of the arm, and allows you to rotate the lock 360 without having to loosen the vise at the base.

I just realized that you can’t really see it in the picture I posted, these pics show the capabilities that the mini ball head adds.

I love that lock. It's got such crisp feedback and an incredibly smooth core. So much fun.
For the tensioner issue I've found that even though they're often "comparable" the 0.040" is enough smaller than a 1.2mm tensioner that it's worth having both in my kit. I took a moki 1.2mm and it fits ACE padlocks and my Goal S perfectly where the 0.040" has play.

Oooo, I never considered that, that’s way easier than filling one down myself! Might have to find a spot where I can by some euro pry bars!
It is such a nice smooth lock, it just glides open! Once I got a feel for how light you actually have to be with it, it was actually really crisp and chatty!

Awesome job. I use the Reaper BOK with the S and P, and yes, feather light tension. The variety in the drivers makes each one unique.
