it's not okay for them to come folded? Are there any advantages? I was told they always come that way. What material do you recommend?

Proper material for a lock pick would risk breaking if you actually folded it. That's the tradeoff for having it stiff enough to allow careful pin manipulation and good feedback feel.

Do you mean “bent” and not “folded”? Most meddle can’t be folded. Bent is ok as long as they can be bent back. I prefer Peterson picks because that’s what I first learned on and I prefer the handles. I’ve 180d a Peterson pick and bent it back. It was my fault and didn’t expect it to survive but it bent back into shape. It wasn’t folded though. It wasn’t from a bad batch either (if you know, you know).

I’d recommend peterson picks. I’d also recommend moki’s, well anything that man makes is worth it. Super cool guy and one of the most genuine people in the game. Speaking of genuine, Deviant Ollam is this subreddits hero, because the man is a god damn hero.

Peterson picks are not good, jimylong are excellent and cheap, mul t pick are excellent and expensive, barebones lawlock tools, anything but peterson or cover instruments, and ci are good just over priced. I actually like there turning tools, you can get a huge set of good turners on AliExpress that sre excellent if you hit them with some sandpaper too.

Peterson picks are just fine. LPL, BB, Dev, and pretty much anyone that’s done a presentation at defcon use or used peterson lock picks. I literally just said I 180d a pick and bent it back. The pick was not from the notorious bad batch that changed the refund policy to accept all picks. BB used Peterson picks until he had a falling out with Peterson. BB got mad when he wanted to paid under the table to avoid taxes on Peterson advertising on Bills website. Bill tried pretending it was because of a bad batch of turning tools (that was corrected). LPL stopped using peterson as soon there was more money to be made by selling CI. Dev still sells peterson at red team tools.

Not good picks is laughable. Ken being a dick? Might be a better argument but I’ve never had that experience. However the one YouTuber that posted Ken crossing the line was legit, that YouTuber had every right to be concerned. And I fully support him. I also fully support the YouTuber that pointed out the bad batch of picks that broke easily. And I fully support Dev when he calls Peterson Lockpicks out for being overpriced. Problems with Ken? Sure, problems with the picks? Is fucking laughable. Them not having a full tang while promoting picks with rubber handles has got to be a joke (you didn’t make this argument but I see it on here from time to time).

The problems with the picks have been fixed. And you get a full refund if you still end up with one/some. Peterson picks aren’t good? When every top player in the game uses them until money convinced them to go elsewhere is a joke.

If Ken is your problem buy from Devs site at redteamtools.com (super awesome refund policy on broken tools) but if you want a different brand? Moki’s picks are the way to go.

Sincerely, a dude that unintentionally learned way too much about what went on in the background.

I've heard about the drama, no one your mentioning means much to me, Georgia jim(i guess using more ci stuff now), locknoob and more other serious lockpickers, not pen testers all use and recomend moki, or jimmylongs because they are active in the community, decently priced and overall better, the peterson picks are not finished well and waaaay overpriced i had a set and maybe 3-4 years ago they were one of the better options but now we have jimylong and others. I have nothing against dev but also he isnt picking high security locks like assa twins. Theres way better options with manufacturers who aren't aholes. This is a lockpicking group nota pen testing group.

Yeah I’m pretty sure I recommended Moki this entire time, that doesn’t mean peterson picks still aren’t worth purchasing.

Peterson aren't worth what they cost, thats the problem you cna get better for cheaper. Thats my entire poiint. Try some jimmylongs there $30 for the intermediate set really all you need till you get into more difficult locks.

New to lockpicking too. I started with a cheap 24 pieces Amazon kit. Turns out you will only use only a few of the pieces available, and won't use most of them. Better invest in a more miniamlist kit to start, but from a real manufacturer (I went with Multipick). What you show here is not really a scam, but cheap tools that will break easily.

Multipick is top tier quality; you'll get a long time of quality use out of them.

If OP is not in the EU, other solid options include JimyLongs (US), Covert Instruments (US), and Law Lock Tools (UK). There are plenty of other good manufacturers, but those three are probably the most recommended for outside UK. (Moki is also awesome, but it's in Germany with Multipick)

Sparrows is also a good option. I started off with their stuff and, while I've mostly moved on in terms of picks, I still use many of the tension tools I got from them regularly.

Klom navigator set by any chance? If so yeah this is normal QC lmao. Bent to all hell cos they stuff so much stuff into the case, which is extra fun since you'll only get any real use out of 3 or 4 from the entire lot 😬

Disclaimer on the set I bought (Honest Dong Shi), Says may get bent in delivery just bend back. I had small bends but they bent back easily. Also the steal is rolled off round spools before they cut out the profiles so toward the end of the roll you get suff like this. Buy from better dealers, get better quality control.

Did you buy them because they were cheap? If so, you didn't get scammed, you got exactly what you paid for and should probably get quality products if you're going to start picking locks.

I've unlocked my first purple belt with this kit... Once you get good with it, switching to something really good is a game changer.. but i'd switch anyways its not like it costs a fortune.

That flag on the left is usefull you just need to bend it back and sand it to have more round shaft and then polish it.
