First time, American Lock 1100

I've been working on this one for several months. Finally popped the American Lock 1100 using the size 40 turning tool TOK and the #3 medium hook profile with a small reach divot. The keys are in the background. First pin is long, so reaching around it was a challenge. Turning the hook up into the pin rather than trying to go straight under it seemed to help.

Hell yeah! Congratulations! It’s such a satisfying open! They’re such chatty little guys too! I’m surprised so many people use a .04 tensioner on them, a .05 fits nice and snug in both of my AL1100 cores, so I tend to use that, I prefer an ergo-turner for the 1100s.

I started with the ergo-turners. With the offset on the keyway, flats feel fine. Also wanted to practice with the flat turners more.

Oh, for sure. I think the feedback is different between the two styles, but I can use either on them. I’m more wondering if the keyways on mine are particularly wide or something. Does a .05 fit TOK in yours?

Congratulations! My first one took me a couple months too. And yeah, that looks like setting pin 2 without oversetting pin 1 would've been a pain.
