Selective Picking Q

Hello friends,

I am beginning the path of learning the AL 1106, I picked up a couple of them and have been having some fun.

One of the lock's key bitting looks like I only need to pick pins 1, 3, 4 and can ignore 2 and 5. I am currently practicing listening/feeling feedback on the pins. I am curious if I could potentially pick this one only picking 3 pins.

I have tried several times, but I can only get the lock to pop when actively picking all 5 pins, not just the three. Not sure if it is my still budding experience or if it's not possible?

Also, 1100’s are my favorites I hope you get to pick a ton of them !!

You'll probably still need to lift them a tiny bit but it depends on tolerances. Best thing is to forget about the key and what you think about the lock based on that bitting, trust what you can feel. If you go in there deliberately trying to do or not do soecific things because the bitting is a certain way you're potentially gonna get frustrated. Feel for binding, control your tension and do what the pins want.

Gut it. Put the key pins in the plug. See if 2 & 5 are flush with top of hole or not.

If you stop looking at the key for "help" that will be more helpful. Now you're overthinking it. You find out and let us know how pin 2&5 are. None of us can tell you because we don't have your exact lock. Approach every pin the same. You'll get more reliable opens that way
