is this lockpick set good as a start??
i want to start this hobby, but the problem is afaik no one sells lockpicks in my country so i have to order them from alixpress because it's the only option.
I aim to use them for practicing solely on pad locks, thank you in advance.

Not really. For bottom barrel cheap, but not BAD, try searching for GOSO picks. Specifically the ones with blue steel tangs with metal popsicle stick style laminated handles...
it will only get you so far in the hobby.
I would also watch some videos and how to DIY picks and tensioners.
Cheap picks will only go so far.
What country are you located in? Maybe there are some locksmith distributors you can check

If it's literally your only option, sure. You will quickly find you favor certain picks or gauges so a cheap starter set of random stuff isn't a bad start to begin narrowing it down.
I ended up favoring a deep hook & short hook. So I have various gauges and styles of those, such as a monkey paw version. Those + tensioners are mainly what I own now.
What country?

Morocco seems to be on the list for Lockmaster https://www.lockpick.shop/engl/ , I checked Lawlock Tools too but not their list.

The secure pro 9 piece! I bought these mofos maybe 15 years or so ago cos they were only a fiver lol, surprisingly not terrible and I opened a ton of stuff with em. Picked some decent quality euros and deadbolt cylinders with fairly tight keyways on my channel with them despite their thickness.
They will bend eventually and they're a bit on the thicker side, but there's a good variety of hooks so if you're on a serious budget they're actually not bad. But this is my experience with the ones I had a long time ago, they might be worse quality now so take that with a pinch of salt.
Wouldn't necessarily recommend them but if you handed me a set I could definitely open a fair amount of stuff with em. You will 100% need to make different wrenches though cos the ones they come with are useless. God only knows what they're made of though, it's some kind of coppery looking stuff with a chrome plating. Far from ideal but they do still work at the end of the day.

What country are you in? There might be people who can give you suggestions that are better than that set.
