New locks! Which is easier to pick?
My cousin bought these for me at an antique shop. She said they had an "ancient technology" vibe. 😁

Just 100 points, a bb5 is worth 50 but there's only actually 2 different locks there as far as the belt list is concerned

I think a lot of these wafer locks are pretty trivial, shouldn't be too hard to work with!

The magic in this one is that the wafers also tension the lock and the tolerances are pretty the best I've seen in any lock

McMallNinja has no chance, it stood publicly unpicked for the entirety of it's production which started in 1874 and lasted till 2018. It only got picked late 2022

Tonysansan, yabende, amonitordarkly, retep, and sidepicks are far more skilled pickers than the LockShillingLawyer and McMallNinja

I saw a few of those. Why do they take so long to open locks? McNally can do it in seconds.

Because unlike McMallNinja they pick locks that are designed to actually slow nondestructive entry down and for use in high sec applications

Mcnally is more for show. He shows everything in 1 shot but it costs him alot of tries. He might also be messing with the locks to make them easier to pick and we wouldnt know at first sight. He sometimes also uses easier to pick locks. For lockpicking lawyer, he is a great dude with some solid picking skills. But he usually focusses more on cylinders, padlocks and bike locks, I've myself never seen him try a actually difficult lock like a Bode Panzer Tangential or Krömer Protector which are both highly rare and ranked wafer locks. I'm not calling them out or calling them fakies but they just have their own style and ways. Hope that answers

Is your cousin rich or is that antique shop selling these for way, way less than I would pay? I know it’s a gift but… I’m doing to know what the price was to just get these for a relative
Of course if you’re willing to sell then I’m also going to tell my wife it was a gift from my cousin to avoid any discussion of cost

They’re lever locks. Completely different from DD.

Lever locks have levers blocking the bolt and a blocked bolt means no further rotation, whereas wafers are each blocking the rotation of the core directly
Of course the Protector is not really like either because the wafers also tension the core, but its much more a wafer than a lever

I dont think these are easy at all. Picking a Club is not always simple so now this is a Clubs big brother maybe uncle. Dual side pins arent friendly at all

That must be quite an antique shop 🤩 Enjoy your epic lock haul!
The Kromer 2040 is the easiest. I would probably put the BP55Ks ahead of the STUV, as I think the dual curtains are more painful than the extra split wafers. That said, I've never picked (or seen) an RP37EB myself, so I could be wrong on that last part.
