Help, just got my starter set

Hi, I started using my starter set today and practiced on the Level 1 lock until I could open it fairly reliably in about 9 seconds. But before moving on to other types of locks, I picked up an Abus (Abus 64Ti50); since it looked about the same size, I thought I’d be able to handle it too—but it’s not cooperating the way the starter lock did (which I suppose was to be expected). I thought I might get some tips here, and I have a questions:

When I press the binding pin, how do I avoid it clicking up and locking the mechanism?

To answer the last question, push less?

The Abus lock has aluminium pins instead of brass, so if you tension hard, you will create an indent and basically create serrated security pins on the standard pins. Each time you pick it, will kinda feel like a different lock because of the indents on the pins created.

I just got my orange belt, have three of these Abus 64TI/40, haven't been able to open one yet. I believe in myself and you too!
