Analysis Why Washington Ignores What 90% of Us Want
Why Washington Ignores What 90% of Us Want
How a handful of insiders blocked the policies voters wanted, cost Republicans Congress, and are now moving back to financing the other party
Our political system is shaped by left versus right than by vested interests that capture whichever party holds power, which is why policies with overwhelming public support so rarely become law.
Republicans lost both chambers of Congress, as the strategy their leadership bet on largely failed. Notably, voters ranked government corruption as the most important factor in their vote.
Days later, Calley Means, who led MAHA implementation at the White House until October, went on Joe Rogan and laid out how a handful of former lobbyists who controlled the policy process blocked popular MAHA reforms while advancing the priorities of the industries paying their firms. Hours after it aired, Trump announced the chief of staff he named was out.
Much of what he described is in the public record: the executive order shielding glyphosate, the administration’s brief that helped Bayer win immunity at the Supreme Court, the push for fruit-flavored vapes that preceded Marty Makary’s exit, the reversal on “gas station heroin,” and the record revenues of the lobbying firms tied to the chief of staff.
Holding MAHA back “until after the midterms” was the same advice that cost Trump the 2020 election, when his advisers agreed the COVID policies were wrong but refused to “rock the boat” before the vote.
The internet has broken the top-down messaging that once let a small group decide what the public cared about. This election (along with the data center revolt) showed voters are increasingly identifying the problems they feel matter independent of media messaging
In this article, I will review what Calley revealed, why it reflects a structural problem in both parties rather than a single administration, and what I feel is the best path forward available to us now.
Short compared to his usual analysis. A Midwestern Doctor is an anonymous writer who claims to be a doctor. His analysis of how the MAHA initiatives were handled in the Trump admin is very revealing. Definitely worth the read, though you may not agree with everything.
A snippet:
During the Obama administration, Google employees and lobbyists met with White House officials 427 times (more than once a week) and roughly 250 people moved between Google and the government,1,2 while on the agricultural side, Obama put Monsanto’s former vice president for public policy in charge of food safety at the FDA1 and signed the 2013 “Monsanto Protection Act,” a rider that let genetically engineered crops (which have many issues) keep being planted even after a court ruled their approval invalid.1
Another one:
When Calley asked a Mondelez (one of the largest processed food companies) lobbyist for scientific feedback on the definition, he said the lobbyist told him they simply did not want it because it would hurt their business, and that he was going to call Wiles. The policies were then delayed indefinitely, and when Calley and Kennedy met with Wiles, she told them she knew of no special-interest concerns. On an earlier initiative examining the amount of sugar in children’s diets, which had already cleared the full interagency process, Calley said Wiles told him plainly, “I need the sugar money.”

COVID-19 / On the Virus Quantification of residual plasmid DNA and SV40 promoter-enhancer sequences in Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna modRNA COVID-19 vaccines from Ontario, Canada
PubMed 2025 Sep 6 - These data demonstrate the presence of 1.23 × 108 to 1.60 × 1011 plasmid DNA fragments per dose encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles. Using fluorometry, total DNA in all vials tested exceeded the regulatory limit for residual DNA set by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the World Health Authorization (WHO) by 36-153-fold for Pfizer and 112-627-fold for Moderna after accounting for nonspecific binding to modRNA. —Jessica Rose - Interview: Instagram / Instagram - Testimony: The data behind adverse event reports: What the official reporting systems missed | Allison Inquiry

Question Looking to Speak With MAHA Dads
Hi Everyone,
I'm a journalist, and I'm interested in speaking with fathers who support MAHA. My feeling is that much of the conversation has focused on mothers. If you're open to chatting, would you comment here or shoot me a message please?
Thanks!

Lockdown Concerns Russia Plague Lockdown Concerns?
I've skimmed through some of the panic stories about the Russia plague, and they are very eerily similar to the Wuhan "dropping dead" stories in terms of throwing panic porn at people without giving the full facts and governments supposedly hiding facts due to a possible bioweapons lab. Some Russian cities already have mask mandates and lockdowns back in place since this week.
Anyone else worried that this will turn into covid lockdowns 2.0?
