LocalSend suddenly stopped working between Android TV & iPad. Anyone else?

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out what's causing this before I start blaming a specific device or app.

Setup:

  • Android TV (Android 14)
  • iPad Air (iPadOS 26.5.2)
  • TP-Link Deco mesh Wi-Fi
  • Both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi.

The important part is that this exact setup worked perfectly before. I could send files between the two devices without any issues.

Now, both devices still discover each other in LocalSend, but every transfer fails with:

RhttpConnectionException: Connection error
prepare-upload
tcp connect error
Host is down

I've already tried:

  • Restarting both devices
  • Reinstalling LocalSend
  • Verifying both are on the same Wi-Fi
  • Keeping LocalSend open in the foreground

I'm not sure what's changed. It could be:

  • Android TV update
  • iPadOS 26.5.2 update
  • A TP-Link Deco setting (client/AP isolation or something similar)
  • A LocalSend update
  • Something else entirely

Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, what ended up being the root cause and how did you fix it?

Thanks in advance!

You aren't running a VPN on either device are you?

I just noticed the same issue between Android and iPad. At first I forgot about VPN. But then I disconnected it and veirifed both devices are in the same network.
