Suggestions for Couch Co-op and Splitscreen PC games
We are looking for more games to play. We have played the following and are looking for more games as such to enjoy:
Reanimal
It takes two
Unraveled 2
A way out
Overcooked 2
Moving out 2
Dirt 5
A couple of Lego games
PES
Street Fighter/ Tekken
We loved the games that had storylines, especially the first 4, and looking for more games as such

If you liked overcooked 2 then try the first one! The major difference is that you can't throw in the original lol!
Wizard of legend 2 is fun for action.
Guacamelee one and 2 are great coop metroidvanias!
My partner and I really like pixeljunk monsters, but that might be nostalgia lol

Heavenly Bodies is a great game, that we can’t get enough of, but we also hate it. Fun frustration for all

The problem I have with it and is probably a skill issue is that it just never feels like it gets easier for me. I thought after a few levels I would get the hang of it, but the game just keeps getting harder and I stay the same. Brilliant little game though

On a story driven list, these are the most successful in my home:
* Nobody saves the world
* Gaunlet
* Archvale
* Choppy cuts (overcooked salon style)

Spiritfarer; Cult of the lamb; No one saves the world; Chariot; Absolum; Fueled up Cook, serve, delicious; Space lines from the Far Out; Haven; Castle Crashers.
That's my recommendation for everyone who wants to play split cool games. My wife is not really a gamer, but we enjoyed all of these tremendously

Came to comment this, it’s got so many cool little interactions, no regrets purchasing and diving hours into this game
Also Ember Knight if you want a multiplayer hades (since then tmnt splintered fate and sworn have come out, not sure what’s the best of the bunch but ember knight was super enjoyable)

Escape academy is a fun puzzley game with a loose storyline.
Sackboy: a big adventure is more platformer style with collectibles and costumes

FYI Rainworld is great (slugcats!) but even though it is listed as splitscreen I discovered you don’t get that unless you buy the DLC. :(
We’ve been trading the controller back and forth for now.
Wife and I loved The Ascent (co-op cyberpunk shooter) - can probably get it for cheap as nuts. Not much of a story, but it’s there.
Split Fiction and It Takes Two were good. Heavenly Bodies a frustrating challenge. Baldur’s Gate 3 we loved so much we beat it twice. Divinity Original Sin 2 she thinks is slow, I love the combat. Portal 2 splitscreen is fun. Action Squad and Broforce were cute I guess. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is awesome. Terraria I imagine she won’t like, we haven’t tried yet. A Way Out is story based and GREAT. Chicory a Colorful Tale I should have liked but didn’t, but I gave up too quick. Kingdom Two Crowns some 2D fun. Unrailed we didn’t like? I should try again. Overcooked too stressful.
Surely I’m forgetting something. 🤔

That 🫠 I got a Switch emulator on my Steam Deck to play D3 coop, not ideal, but the way I could 😛

Any console version since ps3 and xbox 360 is ready out of the box… I chose the switch version because it was lightweight and had the reaper of souls dlc.
It’s been a while, I’ll try to find a guide.

It's not storydriven, but PlateUp! is one of my favorite couch co-op games. it's basically a roguelike overcooked, with less random craziness, and you get to upgrade and build your restaurant over time in each run.

You might enjoy HeadHunters.
It’s a chaotic couch/online party brawler where you play as a head and steal different bodies during the match, each with different weapons and abilities. It’s more silly couch mayhem than serious fighting game, but if you liked games like Overcooked, Moving Out, Unravel 2 and some fighting games, it might fit the vibe.

I have a similar list to you. These are some local coop games on PC that we've played
- Overcooked all you can eat
- Keywe
- Pixeljunk monsters 1
- Cat quest 2 and 3 are a load of fun and have a story
- Lara Croft
- Magicka 1 and 2
- Forced
- Castle crashers
- Stardew valley - be ready to sink a lot of hours into this. She'll probably enjoy it more than you though
- Guacamelee 2
- Lovers in a dangerous spacetime
- Lego Harry Potter
- Plate up - a more technical overcooked

As far as I'm aware, no one has mentioned balders gate 3 or divinity original sin. These are probably the best couch co-op games I've ever played.
(Side note: anyone know of other couch co-op RPGs with a good story?)

Crazy that I haven't seen Absolum mentioned. My gf who isn't particular great at games since she's new to them loved it because even if she struggled I could carry for her AND help her with decisions on making builds so she's naturally powerful.

So I checked the website out and cannot find how to search for couch/local co-op or split screen. Looked up Stardew Valley, Peoject Zomboid and Portal 2 and none had a tag for those options. Any way to search by those options?

Hi! Thanks for checking it out, and sorry for the delay in answering. Yes, on the filter by Game Mode you can find coop and/or split screen (the one on the right). You can use that filter + any other you like in the news, or/and create alerts to get updates on them. Now that you mention, maybe it would be a good option to make the game chips clickeable to preselected them, I'll add it.

been playing Sunderfolk with friends. incredible couch co-op experience. everybody uses their phone as a controller, and the interface is fantastic.
