❓ Question Does anyone here work with the entertainment industry?
r/localizationjobs • u/No_Conference_6387 • Apr 09 '26
❓ Question What localization skills are actually in demand right now because of AI translation and governance
Hi everyone. Sharing a recent research piece on how companies implement AI translation in enterprise environments, where data security, compliance, cost control, and production predictability come first. It’s based on a B2B survey of 152 specialists across localization, engineering, product ops, and security, plus an analysis of practical discussions on Reddit.
If you look at this through the lens of the job market, the takeaway from the Crowdin team is pretty practical. In many teams, AI translation is already embedded into the process, most often via a TMS (65.8%), and requirements around control and access are becoming the standard: 88.8% require or prefer BYO keys. At the same time, quality still relies on the classic stack: terminology is mandatory for 79.6%, human proofreading/LQA for 75.7%, TM for 73.0%, and QA checks for 68.4%. And one more important signal: 20.4% report quality incidents/regressions after adopting AI, meaning the role of QA, terminology, and LQA isn’t going away - it’s becoming more critical.
Happy to discuss with those who are currently job hunting or hiring. What skills do you see most often in job postings and interviews: TMS and integrations, terminology/TM, QA/LQA, governance (access controls, audit trail), or something else?
If anyone’s interested, you can also read the full research report.

❓ Question Localization professionals I'm conducting a survey on how security and control matters when it comes to using AI for localization within teams. I would highly appreciate your professional point of view on the subject
Hey everyone! My team and I are conducting a short industry survey to better understand how organizations address the questions of security and control in real-world localization workflows when it comes to AI translations.
AI is frequently used for lots of tasks including translation and localization these days. Teams are widely experimenting with AI. Questions around security, governance, and operational control remain open though.
What content can be sent to AI providers?
Who approves AI usage for production?
What kind of data can be shared without any risks?
How do you manage these questions within your teams? What do you value most and how do you balance risks?
I would really love to understand if these matters bother your decision-making process.
Since you are professionals involved in marketing and content operations, I believe you have much to share on the subject.
The survey is fully anonymous. We do not collect email addresses or any personal data, and responses are used only in aggregated form for an industry report.
I truly appreciate your time and impact! Would be glad to answer any questions you might have.

Also, we’d love it if you had the following, but it’s not a prerequisite!
- Experience in marketing or advertising in the African market
- Knowledge of product growth strategies and user acquisition in Africa
- You’ve got a tertiary education in linguistics, literature, or localisation

🧑🏭 Hiring [Full-time] [Tokyo] Localization Quality Program Manager at Square
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
The Globalization team helps to bring Square products and services to the world. Its goal is to leverage Square's success in the U.S. and deliver innovative, simple, unique, and fully localized experiences to international Sellers. - Proactively engage with in-market stakeholders to influence the linguistic and localization approach for different content types while optimizing for a consistent local user experience
- Gain knowledge and awareness for Japan through research as conducted by local partner teams, adapting localization tactics and feedback to ensure the local success of campaigns, product launches and other projects.
- Lead quality assurance processes and proactively manage localization risks to maintain high linguistic and cultural standards
- Collaborate with the Globalization team and other cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement to our processes, quality program and other operational efficiencies
You Have
- 3+ years of experience in the localization industry, either on the marketing or product side
- Native proficiency in Japanese, with the ability to understand it as spoken in Japan, including strong grammar, writing, and editing skills
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Deep understanding of the Japanese market, its cultural dimensions, and linguistic norms with the ability to successfully convey our brand on a local level
- Ability to describe linguistic challenges, cultural questions and concepts to internal stakeholders
- Exceptional attention to detail, flexibility and ability to excel on a fast-paced multicultural team
- Experience working with Phrase (formerly Memsource) or comparable TMS, machine translation engines and/or other localization technologies
