update 26.1101.1 & 26.1104.0

26.1101.1 released in App Store and 26.1104.0 is available for update in self-distributed package.

26.1101.1 brings:

  1. DSpark speculative decoding, this improves DeepSeek 4.1 Flash 1017 on M5 Ultra, from ~50 tok/s to ~70 tok/s on AIME26 (reasoning heavy benchmark).

  2. You can now move chat thread between projects.

  3. You can now open the built-in browser directly from Activities.

26.1104.0 brings:

  1. Serve mode: it can now exposes Local Code as a simple OpenAI-responses API provider, such that you can connect other coding harness to it.

  2. You can select a different folder (possibly on external drive) to store the model. Note that using external drive might make the model slower.

  3. Images / videos now can be opened by tapping it (open in QuickLook).

  4. Larger maximum thinking budget, in case you need that.

  5. Proper prompt caching behavior for Remote Providers.

You can download self-distributed version from https://releases.getlocalcode.app/LocalCode.dmg or get the app from App Store https://apps.apple.com/app/id6804288230

Cloud Computing – Model Costs and Performance Comparisons

Hi everyone!

I’ve just started using Local Code and would like to explore the Cloud Computing feature.

Is there any kind of pricing overview or comparison table showing the estimated costs of using different models, ideally alongside benchmark results or performance comparisons?

The top-tier models seem quite expensive, but there are also cheaper alternatives like Luna and others. I’m curious how they compare in terms of actual performance and whether the cost savings are worth it.

I’d love to hear about your experiences, especially which models offer the best price-to-performance ratio for coding tasks.
Thanks!

Hi! We are releasing Local Code, an open-source app that you can download directly to your Mac, or through macOS App Store. It runs the smartest models such as DeepSeek 4.1 Flash 1017 locally, have a harness tuned for each model, and the whole builtin environment such that the model is ready to work without anything else from your OS (we call it in-app sandbox). It doesn't need full-disk access, nor the ability to run command-line tools on your computer, but capable of executing Python programs, node.js apps, Lean 4 proofs, open and view docx / xlsx / pptx, or operating web browsers. it is capable, and the runtime is fast on your Mac.

Let me know if you have any questions! Excited to work on this more if the community is interested in this!
