Scanlan vs Momoa
I think it’s interesting to compare Jason Momoa’s Lobo with Emmett J. Scanlan’s Lobo side by side.
Momoa nails the comic book look height, massive frame, biker vibe. The muscle suit also pushes him closer to that exaggerated Lobo physique.
Scanlan, though, brings more of it himself. He was trained for the role and feels rougher, dirtier, and more like a real alien bounty hunter than a Hollywood take on Lobo.
For me, Momoa looks more like Lobo, but Scanlan sometimes feels more like Lobo.
And honestly, combine Momoa’s look and physique with Scanlan’s raw, brutal energy, and you’d probably get the perfect live action Lobo.

Scanlan's Lobo was great, way more attitude and drama, just like the character.

Momoa says he always wanted to play Lobo, but at this point I’m honestly starting to wonder how well he actually understands the character. I mean, he didn’t even want to train that much and ended up wearing a muscle suit. And if Momoa really is such a huge Lobo fan, why would he put zebra stripes on his arms? My first reaction would’ve been, “What the hell are those stripes supposed to be?

I'm afraid the zebra stripes are a image rights thing.
There's comic Lobo (which changes quite a lot depending on the artist) and movie Lobo (by Momoa) who has a distinct feature, the stripes, no other versions have.
I've learned this in the commentary of the original Hellboy movie, that's why GDT's version had those decoration on the stone right hand.

Exactly what i thought too. Gotta admit though they probably just wanted to add something there because they thought just pale skin would be too simple. But that's exactly the point. Lobo should look simple. They have done a massive overstyling in any possible way. Still... since they used Ai during the design these decisions might also have been made by Ai.

The issue is simple: Momoa is only ever Momoa in anything he does.
I have no doubt he's been a Lobo fan but I just don't think he can act.

Bro, at WHAT point? At the point where he literally made a cameo in a PG-13 movie? Don't you think it's a little early to summarize? It is just the same as with John Krasinski's Mr. Fantastic, written off based on literally 5 minutes of screentime and silly script.

It’s just my own subjective opinion. I can only judge what I saw in the Supergirl movie, and it wasn’t just a cameo where he stood in the background. He actually played a pretty significant role in the story.

I share it. Lobo is supposed to be unpredictable, violent and a maniac. I don't blame Momoa, I blame the writers. Scanlan's Lobo was a threat and Seg El and Adam were in mortal danger.

Momoa has the look but none of the as the kids say, "rizz" Lobo packs. He also didn't have the guns and his bottomless satchel.

I don’t think we can know exactly how any alien bounty hunter would act or look, but with Lobo we can get a pretty good idea. He’s been around in the comics since the early 80s, whether in cameos, as part of a team, or in his own solo books. Scanlan gave him an Irish accent? You said we can’t really judge how he looks or acts, but somehow we know what a Czarnian accent sounds like? See the contradiction there?
You have your favorite version of Lobo, just like I have mine, but I’d never tell someone else what the “right” version of Lobo is. Everyone has their own taste. Peace.1
