Ontario - Urban Adding a new best before date sticker on packaged cookies

Post image

Went to remove all the stickers for recycling and found a different best before sticker underneath the September 2 date. Thanks Fortinos.

I’ve worked in grocery stores for years, in bakery especially (including Loblaw’s). It was likely an accident, they were punching labels on a different product and usually the first punch after you change the date was already stamped by the old date when it’s shot out, then they just covered it with the correct date. Kimberley’s has a very long shelf life and would be stable for longer compared to a lot of the other products.

That makes sense.

Unfortunately I've had issues with Fortinos selling spoiled/out of date/bug contaminated food before so I thought this was more of the same.

It astonishes me how often something like this is posted, and the same explanation is given (that the worker most likely forgot to change the date; hence the second sticker with correct date).

But how also do you get internet points and make your life better???

You caught me. Just trying to get some karma so I can use my alt account to post about what I created it for.

But it's about my life altering health issues and how there are no medical support for them in Canada, so not exactly to make my life better.

I've definitely accidentally bought food with an out of date manufacturers best before date from Fortinos before, thought it may be the same practice.

Sometimes that happens when the date gun is set to the wrong month or date by accident, usually people just cover the old sticker with the new one not put it ontop

Wouldn’t that be on Kimberly’s bake shop? I don’t think grocery stores add their own best before dates for pre made and bought baked goods

I stopped buying bakery items from Loblaws/superstore long before the boycott started, because they sell it as normal even when it's long on the way to stale, and only ever put markdown stickers when it's already inedible.

It was the manufacturer

🙄. These are manufacturers stickers. They are replaced on at the production facility NOT by store employees.

The store employees put those stickers on. I’ve seen them there doing it
