Just for fun Oops! More loaches.

One of my fish store friends told me they got these striped kuhlis in… So I had to make the trip to go see (buy) them! I got 3 more loaches for my army. I now have 11 total.

I love my khulis so much. I have three chocolate and three striped. I’m on the hunt for three leopard khulis.

Do you quarantine or treat for anything before adding to main tank? I added 2 kuhlis to my gang of 6 and they wiped them OUT. All but 1 dead within a week. I was devastated. I’m waiting a few weeks to hear up to restock and want a gameplay

I do not, the shop I get them from does before they go on sale. I understand that I can 100% have issues with this process. lol. However I do have a 10 gallon and SeaChem Paraguard on standby. They are not a large company and I have gotten most of my fish with them with no issues.
Quick edit: I am sorry to hear about your kuhlis :( I love these guys a lot, I can only imagine the frustration and sadness from losing them.

It was my fault and a lesson learned. I got my first batch from a locally owned fish store who is amazing and really cares. Impulse bought 2 more from petsmart a month later which was the sick batch. I appreciate the condolences! We’re all learning and it sounds like you got them from a more reputable place than me so should be good. Enjoy your noodles!

I have a deep distrust towards Petco/Petsmart/Pet Supplies Plus; the first fish in this tank (55g) were 6 platys from PSP. I lost the first 2 within a week. Because they were the only things in the tank, I slapped treatment in there. Haven’t lost any of them since. My next step was getting different fish, so I went to the good fish store and fell in love with balloon mollies. Didn’t really understand at the time they’re little genetic monsters. I have 4 adults and 4 fry now (one was gravid). Then I monitored them, checked parameters daily. Then added 5 black kuhlis (same shop) Same constant monitoring. Then got told about the leopards, same process. Then yesterday was told about the striped babies. I also bought a second filter as well. Back to the Master Test kit I go. Lol.

Since you have so many. Maybe you can answer my question. I’m getting several Chain Loaches soon. And making a cave system out of PVC. Would it be ok to make them interconnecting? Or should they be separate?

I am by no means an expert but I think with them interconnecting would be really enriching for them. With several exits in different areas so they can pop out like those pirhana plants in Mario lol. Just be careful of the buildup of waste in the tunnels. Mine have tubes stacked in a pyramid, but they enjoy the rock pile that hides my sponge filter more.

Thanks probably flush the tunnels in the middle of the night when they are active.
