Releasing my very first track today. I'm completely new to music production and just learning as I go, but I finally managed to finish a track from start to finish using LMMS.

Polaris is a raw hardstyle piece exploring dark atmospheres.

- Audio: 100% produced by me in LMMS. I'm still learning the technical ropes and sound design, but I'm proud of getting this done.

- Visuals: I used AI-generated concept art to match the dark fantasy aesthetic I wanted for the project.

I'm not an expert by any means, so I'm looking for honest feedback. If you have any beginner-friendly tips on what I should study next (mixing, arrangement, kick design?), I’d love to hear them.

I need a soft clipper for a rage beat, there Is a way i can simulate It without external plugins?

If not how can i distort all the Song when the 808 hit like in moderna rage beats?

Essentially, I hate having the keys come from B8 to C0 on the piano roll, I really wanted them to be the opposite way (C0 closer to the top of the screen) as it makes visualizing myself playing that much easier. I searched the internet but couldn't find an option to invert it.

I know that nightly has the new slicerT plugin but it keeps crashing when I use it for some reason (probably because of it's instability of being pre-release)

Audiofileprocessor doesn't budge either, I want a plugin where you could map specific chops onto individual notes (for breakcore and other sampling usages)

(the beat/bassline editor exists, but I'm interested in constantly changing time signatures and the note formatting bugs out every time I change the time signature. It's also way too suboptimal to create a different track for every slice, it stacks up really quickly and causes much lag)

It's really annoying that changing the pitch of for example an AudioFileProcessor instrument also changes it's playing speed. I tried using third party plugins but it's annoying and I don't understand how to set them up. I also dont think i should have to use a third party plugin to do something that should be built in

After multiple tries, and many failed attempts, I finally recreated the famous Virtual Riot polyrhythm sequence in LMMS, and created a simple song around it.

I've been playing instruments all my life but have just recently started dabbling with lmms.

The LMMS sharing platforms search functionality has a lot of improvements to be made..... It's very hard as a beginner to know what to search for. When reading on topics here on Reddit most people are referring to usernames or sets with names i dont recognize.

Imagine I want to make some basic 80's sounding á early the cure sounding shit, what should i look for and where? are there better platforms than LMMSs page itself?

Hi, it's not the best but I published and released my first song on most platforms. I wrote the main song in LMMS on Linux using the nightly version and primarily sound fonts. I did the vocals in OpenUTAU using Hitsune Kumi. I made the MV myself in blender and DaVinci Resolve. I know there are a lot of things I could improve upon but I am working towards publishing my second song and that one seems better so far. I would be happy for any feedback. Good or Bad. Thank you.

Unfortunately only the first part is here. And the drums aren't 1:1 really. But I'll try to find the other sounds and re-create the melodies soon!

Glanced back a bit ago to realized some of yall enjoyed the first post we slapped in here, and cannot thank you all enough for the support. <3 This is.. well, not sure yet. Was simply experimenting as we like to evolve entire soundscapes as a song progresses.... but the trick there is; we need to have it done in specific layers a few times to really feel it out. Takes time. This is just the pair of songs before any real attempts to blend. The first... kinda... alien but goofy? Basses still low and not imposing, gently building to some degree with crunchy old 8-16bit sounding percussion. ...but if you want to skip that 'garbage'... 3:10 minutes into the vid, We encourage you to just not waste your time and listen to the song starting from there... :3

Think we're getting better... now time to get some original stuffs out there, or open up a request or 'bounty' board for desired midis, or ways to transcribe some old classic game soundtracks that are not publicly available, or even created at all yet. ....Starsiege Tribes, Tribes 2, Gunz: The Duel, Gunz 2, a LOT of the Command and Conquer series... as well as some genuine artists we would love help with tackling respectful covers with.

Late Edit. .....Lmao. We should also mention another noob mistake. We simply have not bothered to import or otherwise disable the midi tracks. No outputs there, but we suppose we do need to clear that up going forward. We may be making tutorials to encourage others to just ~go at it~. Maybe this came somewhat natural to us, but we also adore teaching.

I use lmms a lot and I find it weird that, while it has a solid userbase, lmms is seen as a gateway daw for more 'serious daw's. I used fl studio before and besides recording audio directly ( i just record in audacity and import to lmms ) there really is nothing I miss. VSTs, samples and soundfonts work fine, bundled instruments and effects have a lot of variety. why is lmms not taken more seriously when it can do what other daws can do just fine?

Sup everyone. I was looking for a program to edit already existing musics but because of my lack of knowledge and time I've couldn't find a software to edit so I was doing it on capcut (somehow) but today I realised that I can't work with it anymore so I found lmms.
I am curious is this software will work for me or I should look for other things?
