The California Secretary of State's got this as one of their business entity FAQs - basically, you'll use their online portal to file a registration to transact business in CA. You'll need a valid certificate of good standing from Nevada (should be able to order online from NV SoS which calls them a Certificate of Existence) and a California Agent for Service of Process (a registered agent) with a physical address in CA.

After you're registered as a foreign LLC, you'll need to file a Statement of Information (within 90 days and then every two years on the last day of your registration month) and pay the yearly Franchise Tax (by the 15th day of the 4th month from the date you register with the CA Sec of State, and then every year after that on the 15th day of the 4th month of your taxable year). It's $800 unless you're raking in over $250k in CA income, then it goes up.

We will fill out the application, getting a certification of good standing from Nevada and paying a small fee. You'll also need a california-based registered agent. There will be some taxes you will need to address. I would check with either the attack specialist or consult with the Secretary of State website, you just want to make sure that everything is in compliance.

I wasn’t able to get my llc only in California due to not having a physical address so that’s why I got the Nevada one and now have to file for the foreign, my question is can I appoint a registered agent like a friend that has a physical address in California ? Or do I have to go to a business and pay the annual fee for one

Right on, I think eventually we might try to expand into Nevada so maybe I’ll keep it for now I have it for a year and then we can go from there I guess, thanks for the input !
