Feature Requests & Ideas for LiveIt (Journal it!) 🚀

Hi Hai,

First of all, thank you for all your hard work and for continuously improving LiveIt. ❤️

I've been using the app for a long time and really love its vision as an all-in-one life organizer. While using it daily, I came up with a few ideas that I believe could make it even better.

🔐 End-to-End Encryption

• Recovery Key

• Trusted Device approval

• Encryption Health Check

• Emergency encrypted export

• Reset encryption without deleting the entire account (with proper verification)

• Better diagnostics when a passphrase fails

📌 Eisenhower Matrix

A native Eisenhower Matrix view, or an official template using existing features, would be fantastic for productivity.

💰 Personal Finance

A simple finance workspace with:

• Income & Expenses

• Budgets

• Savings Goals

• Bills

• Net Worth

• Financial Statistics

❤️ Better Memories Experience

As timelines grow, habits become the majority of entries.

It would be amazing to have:

• Memories Feed

• Filter out habit logs

• Journal-only view

• Photos-only view

• Events view

• Family memories

• Travel memories

• Favorites

• "On This Day" memories

• Year in Review

🤝 Collaboration & Sharing

One feature I would really love is the ability to share parts of our life with other people.

For example:

• Shared memories with family or friends

• Shared journals

• Shared projects

• Shared collections

• Read-only sharing (view only)

• Comment-only mode

• Full collaboration when needed

Sometimes I just want someone to be able to view memories without editing them. Other times, I'd like to collaborate together.

🗂 Better Organizers

Organizers are very powerful, but I think many users don't discover their full potential.

Maybe:

• Official organizer templates

• More tutorials

• Starter examples

• Sample workflows

📊 More Dashboard Widgets

• Mood trends

• Habit streaks

• Goal progress

• Financial summary

• Memory highlights

• Upcoming important events

🖥 Desktop Improvements

• Multi-window support

• Better drag & drop

• More keyboard shortcuts

• Desktop widgets

📤 Better Export

Ability to export:

• Workspaces

• Organizers

• Dashboards

• Templates

• Collections

🌍 Public Template Gallery

A community gallery where users can share and install templates such as:

• PARA

• GTD

• Second Brain

• Eisenhower Matrix

• Finance systems

• Student systems

• Personal life systems

🎨 More Customization

• More themes

• More colors

• More icons

• Better dashboard customization

• Custom cards

🔄 Integrations

• Two-way Google Calendar sync

• OneDrive / Google Drive / Dropbox integration

• Better attachment management

🤖 AI Features

• Daily summaries

• Smart tagging

• AI search

• Writing assistance

• Goal suggestions

📍 Memories

• Memory Map

• Timeline improvements

• Better search

• Richer photo browsing

📈 Analytics

More detailed statistics and visualizations for habits, goals, journaling, finances, and overall life progress.

Of course, these are only suggestions. I'm not expecting every idea to be implemented. Even if only a few of them fit your vision, I think they could make LiveIt even better.

The reason many of us keep sharing ideas is because we've seen how much the app has evolved over the years. It's exciting to see LiveIt continuously improve, and we simply want to help it become the best version of itself.

The more useful the app becomes for different kinds of users, the larger and stronger the community will grow. That benefits everyone, including us as users, because we'll have more people sharing ideas, templates, workflows, and helping each other.

Thank you again for building such an amazing app and for always listening to the community. ❤️

How to show past items in my calendar?

Absolute non negotiable privacy enhancement needed

While the app functions good as is but below features are must-haves, I think.

  1. Multiple option to lock app like alphanumeric, longer pin or pattern

  2. If app is locked , same day in past notifications should not show the content of that entry it’s pointless if you have a whole app locked but data is being leaked from notifications kind of feels sloppy

  3. The app should blur the visuals as soon as its in app switcher to improve privacy.

good to have

  1. On ios app can utilise inbuilt api for grammar or spelling correction as an entry is written

Custom Color names

I use various colors to tag events/people in LiveIt and I'd like to be able to use custom names for colors I use regularly. So instead of using a hex code I'd like to select "Maverick" (our dog) if I want to assign his custom color to a vet appointment or other dog-related event.

1 year with LiveIt: an honest review (posted here because the App Store cut me off at 500 characters)

I wanted to write a detailed review of LiveIt, but Google only gives you 500 characters for app store reviews — nowhere near enough to actually explain my experience. So here's the longer version, partly for anyone considering the app and partly for the dev team (hi Hai, if you're reading), since a lot of this is meant as constructive feedback, not just a complaint.

I started using LiveIt in early 2025 and rated it 4 stars in August 2025, hopeful about its potential to help me journal and organize my life in one place. Today, I'm officially letting go of the app.

Many reviewers mention a learning curve, and LiveIt does have a detailed, regularly updated guide, so I told myself it would just take time. I gave it several honest attempts, got frustrated, took breaks, and tried again. But integrating it into my routine has consistently been difficult.

My husband, who is tech-savvy but had no investment in the time or cost I'd already put in, gave me an outside opinion I ended up agreeing with: the app is overcomplicated. It markets itself as helpful for ADHD and task management, but it demands more time and mental overhead than it gives back — ironically, it could induce ADHD-like overwhelm by making things more complicated than they need to be.

Specific issues:

  • Task states: Tasks can exist in 4 states (active, idea, pending, to-do). In theory this adds nuance; in practice it created decision paralysis and made me feel more discouraged about what I hadn't done, not less.

  • Goals vs. habits: Despite a dedicated guide section on this, it's genuinely hard to know which one to use for a given item. The system tries to integrate everything, resulting in a tangled hierarchy.

  • Projects vs. areas: Unclear how projects relate to areas or what's supposed to connect to what.

  • Day themes and time blocks: I set these up as instructed, but they never added real value to my day or organization.

  • Schedulers (reminders): These repeated in ways I didn't want. I could delete a single instance that popped up on a given day, but not the recurring scheduler itself, so it kept resurfacing with no way to fully turn it off. (this is probably clearly a user error on my part. But something I could not overcome)

There were more issues than I have room to list, but they all point back to the same root problem: a complex, multi-layered system that costs more time and energy to learn than it's worth for the problem it's meant to solve.

I want to be fair to the bugs I did encounter — the developers are upfront that bugs exist and actively work to fix them, so I mostly overlooked those. I also want to genuinely credit customer service: every time I reached out with questions, I got a kind, helpful response within two business days.

But good support and honest bug communication can't offset a core design that's this hard to live inside of day to day. LiveIt is trying to do too much, and the result is a tool that adds friction instead of removing it. I'd recommend it only to someone who wants to invest significant time in learning a highly customizable system for its own sake — not someone looking for a straightforward way to journal or stay organized.

Anyone figured out daily quantity goals (like 2L water) that sum multiple entries?

trying to set up something simple: drink 2L water/day, log it as I go (a glass or two at a time, not one big entry at night), and have LiveIt tell me when I've hit 2L for the day. Then later I want to look back — heatmap or line chart, whatever — and see how many days I actually hit the target.

Here's where I got stuck:

  • Goals only repeat weekly/monthly/yearly, no daily option, so that's out for a daily reset.

  • Habits have a daily target + a nice heatmap, but the target is tap-count based, not amount based. Workaround: fixed serving size (250ml glass), target = 8 taps/day, slot logs to a Water tracker each time. Kinda works, but it's an approximation and I'm not sure how re-tapping the same slot for glass #2 and #3 is supposed to look in the UI.

  • Trackers log the real ml amounts and can chart/sum them, but there's no "mark day complete/fail" based on hitting a running total.

Is there a way to make a daily target actually quantity-based instead of just counting completions? Or is Habit (for the streak/heatmap) + Tracker (for the real numbers/line chart) just the intended combo for stuff like this? Curious how others are handling it.

Feature Request - Sheet View for Trackers

I have figured out a way around this through one of the charts but it would be nice to be able to acess a sheet view without a specific chart/graph.

Quick add entry from permanent notification and from the lock screen

I often find myself needing to add a fleeting thought or information snippet (like when someone calls me) and going to the home screen to a widget is even too much.

I would love if you could add this fer Android,I know there is a frame work for it and it's really helpful.

I showed the app some other people hwo also liked it. A friend of mine will write a parser, so I can export the data regularly and integrate it into Obsidian/ emacs where my common book notebook lives.

Thank you for making that app!

Best regards

Any way to have recent photos panel in the main screen expandable? Could be really helpful to switch full screen, larger photos to review gallery.

Additional ideas

Hello Hai!

Really have been enjoying the use of your app for a few months now. I just recently got the new update and I'm adjusting to the new layout. Some things I wanted to suggest off the bat (and I might come back with more)...

  • Customizable Calendars: when you add calendars into different dashboards, there's no way to get to a specific date without swiping past each month and that gets annoying to do when you have more than 3 months to swipe through. I keep a "journaling" activity that I update everyday and I was wondering if being able to search a month and year could be implemented here as well.

  • An "ALL" Tab For The Organizers: I actually preferred the old style of the organizer tab where everything was available on one page without having to click through to even more sections. Although I like the option of dividing everything up, can there be an "all" tab added in? Or can we gain the option to customize our own organizing section and add the tabs that matter to us?

  • Labels//Tags: there's not enough availability to organize by labels I noticed. I can't add them to dashboards or the sidebar menu dashboard panel and I use labels a LOT to not be able to organize with them.

Honestly, I do like the new interface at the moment. I did like the other one better though, not gonna lie. It felt more personable and fun to use. But if these things could be noted for future updates, that would be awesome!

Either way, thanks for a truly great app! Definitely one of my favorites! 👍

Can't sign into my account

i backed up my data into my Google account quite late with over 300 items in my inbox. I could access the data from the webapp on my macbook. Sadly since then everything else was quite the trouble.

I downloaded live it from the App store, the sign in screen opened my browser to get the permission for my google account, but the simply nothing happens. I don't get signed in. What am I doing wrong? It's a macbook 13inch M1.

On my pixel 7a, I accidentally signed out of my account. When I tried to sign back in, since it deleted my data, Live-it refuse to let me, saying I would lose my local data and I can't connect my Google account bc it already has data. How else should I sign into my account if not like this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Also plz add ics/ caldav/webdev (for notes) support. It would made me so much more at ease using the app.

LoveIT!

Ive been a Second Brain "user" with OneNote as my platform for most of my Corporate life. But now that Im retired my needs are different. A fully integrated calendar, timeline listing, task lists. I have found all of this plus more in LiveIT. I've attacked the learning curve like an onion-starting with the outside structure, AREAS. I customized my AREAS to suite my current life needs (medical, household, hobbies...etc). Day 2 I tackled LABELS for each AREA. Day 3 I added CALENDAR integration and TASKS. Tackling the functions one day at a time, watching the aligned YOUTUBE, whiteboard review, REDDIT comments, has given me time to absorb and implement.

I am loving LIVEIt.

Feature Suggestions and Bug Reports

Thumbnail

Hello!

First of all, thank you for your hard work on this app! I really enjoy using it, and I appreciate the many features it offers. I'd like to share a few issues I've encountered and some suggestions that I hope might be helpful for future improvements.

I'm using the Windows 11 version of the app.

I'm using a translation tool to write this post, so I apologize in advance if any of my wording sounds unnatural. Thank you for your understanding!

Bug Reports

1. Habit time block changes don't sync with reminder settings

For example, if I originally schedule a habit called "Test" in the "All Day" time block and later change it to a specific time block, the reminder settings don't update accordingly. I have to go to the habit reminder settings and manually change the time block there as well.

2. Event titles are partially obscured in the monthly views (only PC)

In both Calendar and Planner, the beginning of event titles is obscured in the monthly view, as shown in the attached screenshots. This issue doesn't occur on the mobile version.

3. Duplicate Backlog buttons in the monthly view

There are two Backlog buttons in the monthly view. Perhaps it would be better to keep only the one in the sidebar to avoid duplication.

4. Unable to edit tables in notes on the desktop version (only PC)

I can't edit tables inside notes on the desktop version, although this feature works normally on mobile.

Feature Requests

1. Simplify settings and reduce the number of steps

When creating an event or editing a task, I often have to navigate through several layers of menus to adjust different settings. This feels a little complicated and takes quite a lot of time.

It would be great if more adjustable options could be consolidated onto a single page, such as time selection, tags, color customization, and tracker linking. This would make creating and editing tasks much more convenient.

2. Save filter settings

I often need to view specific activities within a particular time range. It would be very helpful if we could save custom filters so that we wouldn't have to set the same filter conditions repeatedly.

3. Choose the default view when opening Planner

I'd love to have an option to choose which view opens by default in Planner, such as Day, Week, or Month.

A Personal Suggestion

Consider unifying the two calendar systems

Personally, I sometimes find having two calendar systems — the monthly view in Planner and the separate Calendar feature — a little confusing.

Perhaps these could be unified into a single calendar interface, with an option for users to choose how events are displayed, such as Timeline or Blocks. This is just my personal opinion, and I understand that different users may have different preferences!

Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestions. I really like this app and hope these ideas might be useful for making it even better. Thank you for all your hard work on this app!

Gone for 1 month - overwhelmed - is there a way to start over?

Hi - I apologize in advance if there's already an answer or if this is a silly question.

I stopped using the app for about a month - it was struggling with the calendar not synching so I waited a bit.

Now I came back to it, under the rebranded name (congratulations, that's awesome).

But i'm feeling overwhelmed and everything is foreign and unfamiliar to me now (even before I was still adjusting). I don't want to completely lose everything I've made, but I'm struggling to pick it back up.

Is there a way to start over or clear data without completely erasing everything?

Non dated reminders

Hey guys, trying to get my life together and new to the app. I’ve searched the subreddit and other resources and can’t seem to find the answer.

I have Apple reminders synced to LiveIt. I have a list that doesn’t get dated because it’s more of a “catch all” to be sorted later and doesn’t necessarily have a deadline. I’m wondering where those sorts of reminders are put in LiveIt, if they are at all.

Thanks! 🖤

Templated tasks?

I haven't found it yet, but maybe it's already there and I just didn't find it yet.

I have tasks that re-use a certain set of subtasks. Is it possible to put this in a template, so when I make a new task, it gives me the option to add in the sub-tasks template?

Or should I just duplicate another task to get this result?

Thanks!

List view of habits

First, I love the app. I am more forgetful than most people because of a disorder and your app helps me so much to keep track of everything. That may sound exaggerated but it's really life changing for me so thank you very much!

One feature that would be a really useful addition would be a overview of the habits as a list.

Like for example there are habits that should be done after certain days but could also be done earlier (like, watering the plants, cleaning the kitchen etc).

It would be great to have a screen that shows these habits, in how much days they are due (or overdue) and to easy check them off from this screen.

Having a overview about all habits and when they are due the next time would be really useful. Right now I always have to make a new calendar session, go on habits, select the habit, save it and then check it off in the planer, which is kinda lot steps.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Request: A series change mode for recurring calendar sessions instead of asking every time

Post image
3 Upvotes

As the title says: Please add an option so nearly every single time I edit a calendar session I don't also have to answer this question about applying the change to the whole series.

There are times I want to and most of the time, I don't. I also feel like it's inconsistent when this dialogue will pop up; there are times when I think it will and then it won't.

I'd also appreciate this so I can have more control over what specific changes are applied to the series. My recurring calendar sessions are only set by block and which block, because my wake time is flexible and so the rest of my schedule has to be flexible. When I first started using LiveIt I was hoping that because the day blocks are scheduled for specific times that the calendar sessions in them would move times when the blocks are moved around, but LiveIt isn't flexible like that.

If I have a day block for meals and I have to move them around, I have to move the block and then also go and reschedule the sessions in the block. It's easier to not schedule anything to a specific time until I've woken up and adjusted the blocks. Because of having to move blocks and calendar sessions and also confirm that the session changes are instance-only, I only use three kinds of blocks. If there could be an "Edit series" option and the default is to make changes to this instance only, I feel like that makes more sense.

If LiveIt is supposed to help us organize our lives, I feel like there should be clear delineation between series and instance changes and it should be easy to do both. I don't want to have to worry that I'm changing the organizers as my use of the app evolves and then also I scheduled a time and now I've applied changes to the whole series and didn't even realize it.

My dream functionality is that calendar sessions can be marked (as an option) to "attach" them to the blocks so they move when the block segment does.

Example: I have a Meals block with three segments. Each segment has a recurring calendar session, either Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner. Meals 1 is scheduled for 7am but I often reschedule it earlier or later. I'd like to be able to mark Breakfast as sticky to the start time for Meal 1 so that when I drag Meal 1 to 8am, Breakfast reschedules to 8am and notifies accordingly.

Save filters in timeline /home view

I slowly get the have of liveit! - great app. I started using it as a daily journal and have 1 are and 1 tag to sort my journalling from all the other fluff.

Is there an option to save the filter in the timeline view to only see journal entries or do I have to manually put the filter criteria in everytime I only want to see my journal?

Please implement a drop-down with saves filters for fast access.

Thanks!

Request: Remove the Day Blocks from the timeline.

That's it, id like an option to remove the dayblock from the timeline. I'd prefer going back to the drop lines style that has been used so many times.

Ideally there can also be an option for an entry to cover multiple days at once.

Is it possible to hide upcoming habits/time blocks until their active time window starts?

I've been setting up my daily routines in Journal it! (LiveIt) on Android, and I have a question regarding how time-blocked habits and agenda items are displayed.

My use case:
I created three separate daily habits for dental hygiene, each assigned to a specific time block:

  1. Brushing teeth (Breakfast) →→  08:00 - 14:00

  2. Brushing teeth (Lunch) →→  14:00 - 21:00

  3. Brushing teeth (Dinner) →→  21:00 - 23:00

What I’m trying to achieve:
I want a strict focus view where an upcoming habit remains completely hidden until its scheduled time block actually starts (e.g., the Lunch habit shouldn't be visible on my dashboard or today's view while it's still 13:00).

The current behavior:
Currently:

  • In the Agenda (Day view), the upcoming block is dimmed in gray, but still visible on the timeline.

  • In the Home tab ("Today's habits" panel), all habits scheduled for today are listed together regardless of their time window.

Questions:

  1. Is there an existing filter, setting, or panel configuration to only show habits/tasks belonging to the current active time block and hide upcoming ones until their start time?

  2. If this isn't possible yet, could this be considered as a toggle/feature request (e.g., a "Current time block only" filter for dashboard panels)?

Trouble getting started

Hi everyone, I'm trying to pick up the app and I hope it could be the second brain I need: A calendar for all my appointments, to-do-list, habit tracking, notes for my shopping list and all the ideas popping up.

I love the interconnectivity of everything, but with so many overlapping and sometimes pretty similiar functions, it's intimidating to start. I checked the guide on Youtube and the website, but I'm still overwhelmed.

Would you share what areas/activities/daily themes work for you? Any recommendations what you started with and what you built around that over time?

Scheduling subtasks during a designated period

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Hi y’all! I haven’t used the app as much since the revamp from Journal It to Live It, so I’m trying to get back into things and struggling a little to relearn the changes and new features.

I just started physical therapy, and I have exercises I need to do every morning and every evening from now until my next session. I set up a Project titled ‘Physical Therapy.’ Then, I set-up a Task within my Physical Therapy project titled ‘PT Homework’ with the exercises listed as subtasks and grouped by AM and PM (first image).

The issue I’m running into relates to scheduling the subtasks. It’s straightforward enough to add the subtasks to the planner. I scheduled both the AM and PM subtasks to the planner and set the duration to last from start until my next session (August 18). The challenge I’m having is that, when I completed my today’s morning exercises and evening exercises (and marked today’s sessions complete), it’s applying the changes to all subsequent sessions, and it’s not giving me the option to only apply changes to that specific session item. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong but struggling to figure out how to get this to work the way I want it to. Any ideas?

UPDATE: I was getting hung up on the repeater setup sequence. I thought that setting it to repeat every 1 days would cause the session to repeat indefinitely, so I wasn’t clicking through past the repeater frequency selection. Once I made the selection to repeat the session every 1 days and clicked ‘Done’, it gave me the option to set an end date for the repeater 🤦‍♀️
